What Will It Take For The Human Race To Live Peacefully?

The sorry state of the world suffices to bring down even the most optimistic of people. How could one have a positive outlook on the future with everything that is happening currently?

If history is any indication, it can be said with certainty that we humans just can't live in peace and harmony. I mean, there is always some or the other conflict going around in the world. Sometimes it is between two or more countries and sometimes it is within a country.

What is it about us that we can't figure out how to just chill for a second and live peacefully? Why do we have to resort to our most basic animal instincts and behave as if "eat or get eaten" still rules our lives as it does in the forest?

The bigger question though is what it will take to finally open our eyes. Is it even possible? There are hardly a couple of scenarios that come to mind that might make it possible.

In The Face of Extinction

As shown in a handful of movies, I think it is when we will be staring at our own extinction that we will finally realize that we are one species. In the face of death, all differences disappear into thin air.

There is something about a common threat that just brings people together like nothing else. And no, the current coronavirus pandemic doesn't count as it is more of a distributed threat rather than just a single point threat.

I am talking about something like a huge asteroid that was about to strike Earth with the potential to wipe us all out. Or maybe even an alien species trying to invade us. It is then that we might come together to face our fates with everything that we have got. The way it should be.

Even thinking about this feels ridiculous. Do we have to be on the brink of extinction for us to come to our senses? What does that say about us as a species?

Sort:

I am ready to live at peace. However, most of the world population still seems to worship the gods of the State, gods of war and plunder. Are we making progress in offering a better way to them?

In my opinion, those at the top have designed this system of perpetual chaos deliberately. To keep us all busy while they continue to gather more and more power.

I am not sure we want or need or should become a peace loving never fighting species. Despite our violent tendencies, I think we as a species have a better chance at growing and surviving by giving into our fight portion of fight or flight. Many lower animals will take the flight phase of fight or flight. Man mostly takes the fight phase. Whether this is due to our ability to dream or to see varied outcomes I am not sure.

But look at the world of chaos we are building due to that tendency. Everywhere you look there is just conflict! The whole species suffers as a result.

What happens if we all come together, learn to live in peace with each other, and then we are invaded by other worlds? We learned to live in peace, we had no need for weapons, we had no defense.

Nature rules us to protect us. Nature tells the bear to go eat a ton of fish stock up on all those berries, it is almost time to sleep for you, so they do. Nature tells the birds that can not winter over to fly south, head for the sun enjoy the warmth. Nature protects them the same way it protects us.

Just because we can think does not mean nature does not rule us. Yes we can change our environments, we can change a lot of things physically about us, but we will never rid ourselves of the monsters that live among us.

There will always be someone with out any remorse, with out a conscience, that will take advantage of those that believe no one could do something like that. The Corona-19 crap proves that.

We can not hide from our true nature. We, as individuals, want to survive. When it comes to a choice of your life or theirs, 99.9% of the time the choice will be our life, we will as an individual chose our self over others.

There only seems to be conflict everywhere, it is what the media wants people to see. it is what drives the control of the people. keep them in fear. Right now where I live, where I am at there is no conflict. There is no one shooting or stabbing or killing any one.

If we chose to only see the conflict then that is all we are going to see. If we chose to see only people kneeling and praying that is all we are going to see. If we walk the streets with our eyes open we will see each other, if we stop and talk we will learn about each other.

I know there is conflict, war, strife, murder and mayhem in a lot of places. There is not much here where I live. Do you hear gunshots every night every day, are people being killed left and right around you, are you in a war zone?

Stress the fear, stretch the truth, tell the lie big enough, often enough, and people will believe. Those that want to control are good at their job and good at the manipulation of people. We the people have allowed it. When people learn and understand that very very old phrase "You have nothing to fear but fear itself", things may change, but people do not understand that and most never will.

I agree with you when you said, "we will never rid ourselves of the monsters that live among us." I also agree that 99.99% of the time we will choose ourselves over others when it comes to survival.

I am also aware that the chaos we see manufactured. It's not real. But therein lies my point. It's more about the powers that be than the people who are just fending for themselves. The master manipulators want to make us fight so we don't pay attention as a single race to all their nefarious activities. And the worst part is that it won't get better. The powers that be only get more and more powerful with each passing day. It seems like the dystopian societies that they show in the movies are destined to happen in the real world too.

I think we really could be headed toward the reality that movies portray, us and them, the haves and have nots. It looks bleak, but does it not always look darkest before the storm, then comes the storm, and after a new light, so all is not really lost. We do seem to survive most of what we throw up at ourselves.

I do hope there will be light at the end of the storm. And yes, we have managed to survive A LOT!! Maybe we will survive this too :)
