Hello friends! When I woke up I went to Hive.blog to update myself with the latest posts and I found the publication of @Bluemist and its new initiative of #Hivepersonality. The week before he invited us to talk about our favorite witnesses, and even though I wanted to participate, I realized that I still have a lot to learn about this topic, and I didn't want to make a disinformative post. However, his initiative encouraged me to review the witnesses I vote for, and to worry about knowing more about what each one of them has done on the platform (I'm still working on that)

Now, this week's initiative is to describe two personalities of Hive, your favorite personality, and the personality that bothers you the most in Hive. You don't have to "mention" any user directly, however, you can give enough information for people to get an idea of who it might be.

As a student of psychology, this subject calls my attention because our "humanity" is composed of positive and negative aspects, it is impossible for all people to look at us in the same way and it is impossible for everyone to like us equally. In fact, there lies the interesting thing about social interactions (both face-to-face and online), some aspects of our own will make us more attracted to some kind of people, and other aspects will make us reject another kind.

I want to start my response to this initiative with the not so nice part, the users that I don't like very much of Hive. In principle, I am bothered by disrespectful users who express themselves from a discourse based on hate, those who make fun of, or belittle the work of others. Those who don't concentrate on their own work but devote themselves to criticizing someone else's work.

Another type of user that bothers me, and from this if I have had experience, are those who give "downvote" because they think that the publication has more rewards than it deserves. The rational part of this has already been explained to me and in fact it is supposed that the downvote button was created for this purpose, however, a part of me still thinks that this makes no sense. What does this user know about how much it could have cost me to write a text, translate it into a second language and edit the photographs that make up the post? What does this user know about MY effort? And let's see, it's not that it was a one-sentence publication and an internet photo, it was a 299-word text, with photographs taken and edited by me... Ugh, I remember it and I get annoyed again hahahaha. Because the effect of the downvote is psychological, I begin to wonder what I did wrong...

A third type of users that sometimes bother me are the smartasses of Hive. Yes, they tell you how many times to post per day, how to present your posts, how the hashtag should be, etc. The problem is not what they want to teach, but how they do it, most of the time from a position of superiority. When you investigate these crazy rules you realize that they are nowhere to be found, and that even the most powerful people on the platform don't follow them. Curious, isn't it? It reminds me of a video recorded in Spain, which more or less portrays the following: the mother puts a chocolate in front of her daughters and tells them not to eat it until she returns. When she leaves, one of the girls starts enjoying the chocolate and the other starts screaming and crying "mommy, she is eating the chocolate", hahaha. To be in Hive you need the highest levels of morality proposed by Kohlberg, it's not about doing or not doing something "because someone else says so" "because I'm going to be punished", it's about acting right and knowing what is right from your personal conscience.

Now, my favorite personalities at Hive are those who focus on their own work and bring quality content to the platform or its promotion. They are users to whom you can ask a question and they answer you with kindness (without impositions), make constructive criticism, respect your writing and publishing style, and even support and help you grow on the platform with a vote or a comment.

Particularly one of my favorite personalities at Hive is a guy on the other side of the world. He loves books and cashews, he seems like a "tough guy" with his publications about guns but when you talk to him you realize that he is one of the most sensitive and empathetic people. He usually has hundreds of comments on his publications and most of them are answered with a quality commentary. He is one of the people who most promotes the commitment with the platform, he even has a weekly challenge that encourages interaction and engagement of users, he is certainly an example for me to follow.

And this was my entry, I hope that you will also dare to participate. If you like everybody, or you don't like anybody, you can ask yourself, what am I missing?

Español

Hola amigos!

Curioso, ¿no?

te agradecería mucho si me señalas específicamente dónde puedo encontrarlo.

Hi Sofi,

This is a really nice measured and balanced post and was enjoyable to read.

There are always good and bad when humanity come together, everything in between too, I guess. It is always going to be the same here on hive and therefore it's nothing but a reflection of society in the real world. Maybe it's a little worse because people can hide behind their keyboard.

There are many of the first type here, and were also on the previous incarnation of hive that I can't bring myself to mention. I'm not sure if it comes from a lack of self-worth or a feeling of elitism however some feel they need to push their agenda upon others and often it is done in a poor manner; It's often abrasive and unwelcome too of course...And, if one disagrees or doesn't act as they would like then their larger stake is used as penance, down votes I mean. Yes, that happens.

I don't disagree with the down vote system although some have used it to prop up their feeling of insignificance seeking validation through notoriety perhaps. I cast down votes myself, but they are reserved for bad actors, plagiarists etc.

On the flip side, there are many great people here...I could tag many right now. It's those people I value, as do you. I don't even have to have much in common with them, just the ability to interact sensibly, with interest, humour and respect and the desire to be a responsible member of the community. I wrote a post called Who? about this only a few days ago.

There's always going to be as many personalities here as there is in the real world and all have a place I suppose. For me, with the bad actors, those that bully for instance...Possibly in the real world they are bullied, maybe they have such low self esteem that they come here and throw some weight around in a vain attempt and clawing back some of their own validity and feelings of self worth. I don't know, just a thought.

If only they knew that the best way to improve their own self esteem is by improving someone else's.

Thanks for your post. Nice one!

Hello Galen!

Yes, that's what I said in another comment, it seems to me that the negative vote should be used wisely, as well as the positive vote. There are users and publications that really deserve it, but once again, even that is quite subjective.
I try to get away from the negative things and concentrate on the positive, however, by investing so much time and effort here, I will eventually see things that I don't like, or that make me uncomfortable, and that's part of life.
I am learning, I feel I have very little time here because on the previous platform I was almost not active. That's why I am so grateful for the support, advice and constructive criticism.
Again, thank you for taking the time to read me, and read many other users.

I try to get away from the negative things and concentrate on the positive, however, by investing so much time and effort here, I will eventually see things that I don't like, or that make me uncomfortable, and that's part of life.

I'm the same...In curating for curangel I see some amazingly bad and negative things but I push then away and instead fill up with the positive ones. I guess my biggest issue is the fact that some of the coolest people have disappeared; You know, people I've engaged with and built relationships with...They sometimes disappear. Makes me sad, but then again, that's their journey I guess. I need to walk mine, so I keep pushing.

I hope that my small efforts to support others and the community in general make a difference, I'll never really know I guess. All I know is that I try to put my best foot forward, be the best version of me as often as I can here, and in the real world.

Thanks for responding.

Believe me Galen, the authenticity of your intentions and your sincere support to the community and users is evident. It has been a fortune for me to have a partner at Hive as nice as you. Happy day :)

Aww shucks Sofi, I'm blushing...Not easy considering my colouring. :)

So impressed by your entry into #Hivepersonality

This post has been appreciated and featured in daily rewards for quality content. Keep up the good work

it was something I've wanted to say for a long time, really! Good initiative.
And Thank you!

Hi, I can see that you are doing well here on Hive. If you want to do even better, please try our Upvote service. Take a look at our latest post. We need more members 😉
