USSR TRADITIONS THAT WOULD BE GREAT FOR NOWADAYS

USSR was a union of contradictions, and discussions whether its existence was great or not are hot till now.

But now I wanna touch another side of the USSR history - some of it traditions that were really great, I think, and they would be really useful for our reality.

Or not?
How do you think?

SPORT AT WORKING PLACES

In the USSR, gymnastics and sport was respected and done by absolutely everyone, from kindergarten students to factory workers.
Any factory or educational organisation devoted some time to let people have a rest and devote some time to their physical health - some easy exercises didn't take much time, but they were really useful and prevented many problems.

I know that some countries have such practice as well, but in Russia this tradition is lost.

MONEY FOR GARBAGE

Glass reception points were popular anywhere in the USSR, and it was a widely spread tradition to collect glass bottles and take them to these points to get some money.
Money from garbage!

I remember this tradition too! And I always took bottles to such points in my childhood. Parents never took this money, and I was happy to get some fruits or sweets from nothing;)

LIMITED TV TIME

What a great rule!
Nowadays it's a hot problem, and it would be great to make this tradition alive again. Of course, it's parent's problem, and they can explain use and harm of TVs without any state rules, but for some people only laws and state rules are ok..

Soviet children did not know what tablets and laptops were. They had admission to cartoons only with the permission of their parents. And parents themselves watched TV not much.

I remember those happy days when we got a newspaper with TV-programmes shedule, and we underlined everything we wanted to watch:) It was a real event!;) And our neighbours who didn;t have a TV, came to us to watch some good films together;)

Btw here they are legendary USSR cartoon characters.
Immortal cartoon! How many generations were brought up watching it.
It's funny, educational, kind and so beloved by all our people!
I watched it, and now my son loves it too;)

COLLECTING OF WASTE PAPER

Collecting waste paper was one of the favorite activities of Soviet schoolchildren. It was held every three months.
On this day, the students went in search of unnecessary newspapers, books and pieces of paper.
As a rule, friends and neighbours helped them to do it;)
There were even some cartoons that taught kids to do it to let paper have its second life.

STREET GAMES

Now kids are online too much. At times of USSR all time was offline because there was no internet, and to some extend, it was great.

I remember my childhood, and how active we were! There were many friends in the street who were waiting for each other to organise a new cool game! So exciting memories...
Now I see so many kids who even while walking are online with their phone...

and this list can be endless...

Friends, which traditions would you like to have now?

Sort:

Exciting list! Many of mentioned we had in Czechoslovakia too.
We had only one cartoon at 7PM and we were looking forward to it whole evening. When cartoon finished, it was sign to go sleep. We also collected paper and classes compete among each other who can collect the most. In autumn we also collected chestnuts for wild boars.
We also spent plenty of time outside playing games. One my schoolmate was organizing seasonal street league in hockey and football. With rules, schedule, tables, statistics and ceremony... Not everything was bad at that times.

sure not everything! a plenty of +, my parents still adore those times even when they hear arguments against, they start to protect their country. There was definite atmosphere then...Now we can't get it..

Почти все из выше перечисленного, единственное что убрал бы соривновательный и нормированный елемент со сбора мукулатуры.
