The Mayflower final post

I have done a couple other posts on the Mayflower previously which you can see at the links below if interested
The Mayflower

and this is my final post of shots taken that day when we heard it pulled into and berthed at New Bedford Harbour to be safe during a big storm that was approaching

This is not the original Mayflower but a replica, the original Mayflower

What happened to the original Mayflower? No one knows for sure what happened to the original Mayflower. The last record of the ship was an assessment of her value in 1624. After that, she disappeared from maritime record

In September 1620, a merchant ship called the Mayflower set sail from Plymouth, a port on the southern coast of England. Normally, the Mayflower’s cargo was wine and dry goods, but on this trip the ship carried passengers: 102 of them, all hoping to start a new life on the other side of the Atlantic. Nearly 40 of these passengers were Protestant Separatists–they called themselves “Saints”–who hoped to establish a new church in the New World. Today, we often refer to the colonists who crossed the Atlantic on the Mayflower as “Pilgrims.”

After a grueling 10 weeks at sea, the Mayflower, with 102 passengers and a crew of about 30, reached America, dropping anchor near the tip of Cape Cod on November 11, 1620.

I think the things that caught my eye the most when viewing it was the rope work and the crows nest, I think that's what they call those things up the mast but feel free to correct me if I am wrong I am no expert on sailing or anything nautical for that matter lOL

There will be a next time one day when they will invite you on board ... or Lulu talks to them, and you sneak aboard behind their back while they listen.

Hello dear friend @tattoodjay good night
What beautiful images has he been able to capture of this beautiful boat, how good that he robbed in a place that you could access to take these images. I really appreciate the information and the beautiful images that you have shown us
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid night

Thanks for your visit and support wishing you a good day

I was just watching an episode of Ariel America and they flew over a ship very similar to this when they were talking about Plymouth. I wonder how many replicas there are of the ship. I think during part of the segment they flew over New Bedford too, but I could be totally wrong. That is one of my favorite shows to pass the time when there is nothing else on tv. Awesome photos!

I will have to see if I can find that episode i love that show when I just want to unwind and haven't watched it for a while but will look for that episode later today for sure

It is interesting to have replicas of ships. To think that the Mayflower brought the first immigrant here... and it is so tiny!

Thats what I thought about it being so tiny I was expecting something bigger I do have to admit

They were all like that... in the past!

As you know, I built a big replica model of the Mayflower during my long stint in hospital in 1980 JJ.
An amazing story behind this ship, especially as nobody gave them a chance of succeeding. All of the naysayers were proven wrong.
I think that the naysaying politicians at the time tried to hide the Mayflower's success.

Beautiful photos here mate!

Thanks and yes pOliticians have not changed at all over the years have they

Yes you did mention your model you built you clearly have more patience than me lOL

Nope JJ, no change on the political front for the past 100 years.
It was real fun to build that model, but the nice thing is that the history stays in one's mind.

very beautiful ship !BEER
