SURVIVAL REQUIRES A GAME PLAN!!!!!!!!

in GEMS4 years ago

I don't consider myself a fatalist, but rather a realist. With the coaxing and guidance of my son @ryan313, over the past seven years, I have been able to gather the necessities that will help us survive with the mayhem that is coming. All indications are that events are lining up and in the not too distant future, we will be caught up in a scene never experienced before.

It is never too late to begin preparing for the possibility that the mayhem, already in progress, will bring us to our knees.

In this blog, I will share with you what my son @ryan313 and I have done.

Buy precious metals. I started buying seven years ago. All of my metals have been purchased from https://www.jmbullion.com Just a little at a time. Gold can be purchased in smaller weights than an ounce.

1 oz. American Gold buffalo

1 oz. American Silver Eagle $17.49/coin

Silver Eagle Proofs. More $ per coin because they are proof coins and therefore carry a premium.

Junk Silver, so named due to the condition of the coin. Not a collectible coin. It is important to have Junk Silver because it gives you a smaller denomination to use.

Fiat. When the ATM machines are disabled and the banks will not let you get at your own money, have some tucked under the mattress, or better yet in a safe with your precious metals.

Have at least a three month supply of food. https://secure.food4patriots.com/ This is a great company and they are presently giving away a three-day sample package. The shelf life of their product is 25 years.

Have a supply of your own food. We vacuum seal all of the produce we grow and can usually store about a year's supply, consuming it as we go. Dehydrating or canning also provides you with a way of storing food.

Being able to supply your own power is also essential. a short term solution is to have a generator on hand with a stockpile of at least 50 gallons of gas. Additives can be put into the stored gas that keeps this vital potential energy in good condition.

A longer-term solution would be to have some sort of alternative energy. When these solar panels were purchased they were rather costly, but they are now sold for a fraction of the price.

Have a way to communicate. Short wave radios are key to being able to stay in touch and are a ball to use at any time.

Water, water water. This can not be stressed enough. Containerized water is a simple solution. I am lucky enough to have a source of freshwater all around me.
Surface runoff and a natural spring keep our pound brimming throughout most of the year.

Having guns in the house is a personal choice, but when the s--t hits the fan, you may be happy that you have one tucked away in a safe place.

When possible, have an alternative way of producing heat.

Faith. Back in the day one of my hobbies was working with leather. This piece was done in 1978 and hangs in my kitchen. Faith may be the one thing we all fall back on if God forbid we continue to travel down this slippery slope.

ARE YOU PREPARED?

Sort:

Nice!!

We have prepared for this for many years, hoping never to get to this point but it sure helps to know we can hunker down and ride this out together on the homestead. God bless us all!!

Oh man, this is the life I want to lead. You guys have it all!!! The pond is beautiful, the gun is sexy, the food storage is enviable, the gold, silver, and crypto is smart, good communication is essential, fuel and electricity are great benefits, and faith is sometimes all you have to fall back on. Good on you guys, sounds like you raised a smart man to fill you in on all these realist ideas ;)

Yes, we're pretty hooked up, and we feel so fortunate to be in this position.
Hard work does pay off, and being healthy at this point in our lives gives us the opportunity to enjoy what we have worked so hard for.
Thanks for such a nice reply.

a short term solution is to have a generator on hand with a stockpile of at least 50 gallons of gas.

Gasoline is dangerous AF to store and a loud gas generator advertises to all your neighbors that you have power while they don’t. Propane generators are a lot quieter but, yeah, solar is a great idea.

Communications, security, and OPSEC are the weakest of my preps. Gotta really work on those before the next crisis. 😅

I totally agree with you on the gas generator. At this point, it will have to do though.
The one thing that I have been looking into is a way to be able to purify drinking water. We have a private well, but without electricity, it would be useless. Another possible solution would be to get one of those hand pumps. My Grandfather had one on his property, and as a kid, I can remember thinking how cool it was. It should not be too difficult to pull the wiring and pump from the well and install a hand pump.
