Empathy & Why It Is So Important, Not Only In Your Personal Life But In Your Professional Life Too
Empathy is arguably one of the greatest tools afforded to us and yet it is so underutilized. Why is that and how can we become more empathetic towards ourselves
and others? And why is that important?
Life is all about perspective and empathy allows you to not only see things from your own perspective but from others too, which allows you to connect and work with others on a much deeper level
What is the difference between sympathy and empathy?
Empathy is a term we use for the ability to understand other people's feelings as if we were having them ourselves. ... Sympathy refers to the ability to take part in someone else's feelings, mostly by feeling sorrowful about their misfortune.
Why is it so important to practice empathy with yourself and others?
You get 3 different types of empathy (cognitive, emotional and compassionate).
Cognitive - Perspective taking - Putting yourself into someone else’s place and see it from their perspective - Does not engage with their emotions.
Emotional - When you feel the empathy with another person.
Compassionate - taking action to mitigate the problem
