English version

As this week's proposal for the constes (you can read about it here) is a film about a leader, I chose a work that not only showed an important figure of history, but one that we could identify oursevels with. The film The King's Speech premiered in 2010, with 118 minutes in length. According to the controversial Rotten Tomatoes, it has 95% approval in the "tomatometer" and 92% approval by the general public. According to IMDB, the long had a budget of approximately 15 million dollars, and raised more than 427 million dollars, in addition to winning 4 Oscars and other hundreds of prizes.

The idea of this week's contest is to write about a film that has a leading figure. As I already mentioned, I chose a work with a leader we could identify with. For those who don't know, The King's Speech is about King George VI of England, Elizabeth II's father. At the moments before World War II, he was reluctant to take the throne, but he did it anyway. The monarch, however, had a serious speech problem, which prevented him from speaking in public, which caused him great embarrassment and problems to perform his tasks effectively. His wife seeks help from a therapist to help her husband, and treatment sessions begin at home of this therapist, who uses different methods to help his patient, and in the end the two end up developing a great friendship.

The most interesting part of the work is precisely this friendship that arises between the king and the therapist. If it weren't for the monarch's speech problem, the two would never meet, but due to the circumstances, this relationship emerged. A curiosity about the work is that the screenwriter, David Seidler, also had a stuttering problem as a child, and the story of George VI was a great inspiration for him.

The film mixes elements of comedy and drama, we have very funny and also very touching scenes happening throughout the plot, which develops at a contagious pace. But whoever reads this text may be wondering why he would identify with the king, and I ask you: Who has never had a problem speaking in public? And even more, who have never had to overcome a personal difficulty in order to fulfill a important obligation or achieving a dream? I'm sure your answer was affirmative, and that is the reason for choosing The King's Speech as the film of this week. A leader is not someone unbeatable and constantly strong, he is a person like us, he has fears, dreams, wants and feels sleep after lunch. The King's Speech shows a character dealing with his personal difficulties and doing the best he can, and the humanity he has is what makes him a good leader.

I hope I have brought my opinion in a satisfactory way and I wish luck for everyone participating in the constest!

Boa sorte no concurso, amigo.

Tem toda razão, e realmente o elenco é sensacional! Que bom que gostou, valeu! :D

Valeu! :D
