Where do I get the ones for my publications?

We often receive and send countless amounts of images through all our social networks. Most of the time we overlook the fact that these images are copyrighted or not free to use.

What are copyrights?

"Copyright is a set of legal rules and principles that asserts the moral and economic rights that the law grants to authors (copyright), by the mere fact of the creation of a literary, artistic, musical, scientific or educational work, whether published or unpublished." Sourse Wikipedia

This means that we cannot use any image that circulates on the Internet as if it were ours.

¿Y si no soy fotógrafo?

But then do we have to make all the images we want to use in our publications and social networks? What if I'm not a photographer?

The answer is no. Sometimes you just have to contact the author of the image and ask his or her permission to use it. There are also free image banks that we can use, in these each author indicates the conditions to use their material, in some cases we can do it to our liking, but the fairest thing is to give the credits to the author of such images, mentioning it and preferably placing a direct link to their work, this will give you more visibility and the option to be rewarded for your work.

Placing the source is a nice way to thank the creators for letting us use their work at no cost. I am sure that if at some point you offer some free material you would also like the people who use it to give you credit for your work.

Where do I get the free images?

Well, from image banks, for example:

Unsplash

How do I give the author credit?

Usually when you download the image from one of the previous pages the author leaves a link that you can copy and paste. If he doesn't have it you can copy the link yourself to the page where the image is. If you can't place the link, you can still place a text with the author's name and the page where you took the image.

And how do I do it in Hive.blog?

In hive you can do it in 2 ways; after placing the image or at the end of the post make a list with the authors of each of the images used in your publication.
