Hey que tal amigos el día de ayer fue el momento tan esperando, por fin fue el día de cosecha para ambos cultivos, el tomate y el pimentón en el cual venimos trabajando desde hace meses. Fue un día completamente ocupado, de mucha emoción y alegría por los resultados obtenidos en ambas siembras, para el pimentón teníamos mucha fe ya que lo tratamos mucho mejor que en anteriores cosechas y teníamos la certeza que esta seria mucho mejor, de igual manera con el tomate ya que es nuestra primera vez atendiendo este tipo de cultivo en invernadero.
Hey friends, yesterday was the long awaited moment, it was finally harvest day for both crops, tomato and paprika on which we have been working for months. It was a very busy day, full of excitement and joy for the results obtained in both crops, for the paprika we had a lot of faith since we treated it much better than in previous harvests and we were certain that this would be much better, likewise with the tomato since it is our first time attending this type of crop in a greenhouse.
En este momento cumplimos nuestras expectativas y mas, pero aun estamos por ver como se comportan las plantas los siguientes meses, y queremos ver que tanta producción podemos obtener, además de eso tenemos una tabla comparativa en los distintos tipos de pimentón hibrido, y sabemos hoy en día, cual tiene mayor producción menor costo en abonos, venenos y cual es mas beneficio para esta industrial.
At this moment we fulfilled our expectations and more, but we are still to see how the plants behave the following months, and we want to see how much production we can get, besides that we have a comparative table in the different types of hybrid paprika, and we know today, which has higher production, lower cost in fertilizers, poisons and which is more beneficial for this industry.
Corte de pimentón y selección. - Paprika cutting and selection.
El corte de pimentón en invernaderos se implementa con tijeras, ya que de esta manera la planta no se maltrata, y necesitamos que ella tenga una larga vida, así que estresarla lo menos posible es lo ideal, además de eso solo seleccionamos los pimentones, rojos, rayados (rojo con verde) y pimentones marrones, el color marrón es un indicativo que esta maduro y con el pasar de 2 o 3 días cambiara a color rojo, por este motivo solo cortamos estos 3 tipos. Ya que cortar los pimentones verdes deteriora la vida de la planta.
The cut of paprika in greenhouses is implemented with scissors, because in this way the plant is not mistreated, and we need it to have a long life, so stressing it as little as possible is ideal, besides that we only select red, striped (red with green) and brown peppers, the brown color is an indication that is ripe and with the passage of 2 or 3 days will change to red, for this reason we only cut these 3 types. Para esta cosecha o despunte como decimos calculamos 20 cestas, esto es cortar los pimentones que están maduros. Sin embargo nos equivocamos en los cálculos y en los primeros surcos nos dimos cuenta que obteníamos 1 cesta y media por surco, sin embargo tenemos 40 surcos, de los cuales 10 son de otro tipo de semilla, la cual no es muy buena, la producción es mucho mas inferior y una cosa equilibro a la otra.
En total obtuvimos 40 cestas grandes, hasta los momentos no hay nada mediano, esto cambiara luego de los primeros 5 cortes.
For this harvest or "despunte" as we say we calculated 20 baskets, this is to cut the ripe peppers. However we made a mistake in the calculations and in the first furrows we realized that we were getting 1 and a half baskets per furrow, however we have 40 furrows, of which 10 are of another type of seed, which is not very good, the production is much lower and one thing balanced the other.

Esta semilla es sin duda alguna la mejor del mercado, y el código que tiene por catalogo es WS-5272, el tipo del pimentón hibrido es llamado Magistral, muy conocido en el mercado por tu tamaño, peso, y los característicos 4 lóbulos.

Armado y llenado de cestas - Assembly and filling of baskets
Luego del corte viene una de las tareas mas difíciles, la cual seria el armado de cestas, para esto hay personas expertas que saben acomodar cada pimentón como si fuera un tetris, sin embargo al ser el despunte, todos los pimentones son grandes, así que no hay nada que encajar. La cesta puede llenarse con 45 pimentones, 15 pimentones en cada nivel. Anteriormente en otras cosechas llenar una cesta nos costaba entre 55-60 pimentones de un tamaño grande, pero nada comparado a los primeros cortes de una semilla original.

El armado consiste básicamente en encajar cada fruto en la cesta de manera que no queden espacios, esto se llama enrejillado, que nos limita a los productores a vender de esta manera, sin embargo los distribuidores no cumplen esta norma. De 20 cestas enrejilladas se obtienes 25 cestas sueltas y allí esta la ganancia de los distribuidores, algo que no me gusta mucho en lo personal.
La selección es simple, apartar los mas grandes de los mas pequeños y llenar todo del mismo tamaño, o se pueden mesclar ambos sin ningún problema, los rojos suelen dejarse encima para que no se maduren mas y puedan soportar los viajes lejanos.
The assembly basically consists of fitting each fruit in the basket so that there are no spaces, this is called grating, which limits us producers to sell in this way, however the distributors do not comply with this rule. From 20 gridded baskets you get 25 loose baskets and that is where the distributors make their profit, something that I personally do not like very much.
The selection is simple, separate the larger ones from the smaller ones and fill all of the same size, or you can mix both without any problem, the red ones are usually left on top so that they do not ripen more and can withstand the long trips.
El traslado de estas hortalizas es algo que no solemos hacer, pero esta vez nos toco, ya que siempre los compradores llegan directamente al invernadero. Esta vez lo llevamos directamente a una feria de hortalizas muy reconocida en mi ciudad.

La cosecha de tomate se adelanto un poco, así que tuvimos que cortar los tomates mas rojos, otro pequeño despunte esta vez de 1 cesta grande y una mediana.
Esperamos que nuestra producción sea de 40-50 cestas semanales, en dos cortes, los cuales planeamos sea el martes y sábado.

Esto cumplió con nuestras expectativas y nos demostró que vale la pena el esfuerzo y la dedicación, la espera fue lenta pero al fin llego. El hacer bien las cosas tiene sus recompensas y la estamos viendo.
This harvest is just beginning and we expect it to have a long plant life, approximately 20 cuttings which is equivalent to 5 months, one cutting per week for the paprika and 2 for the tomato.
This met our expectations and showed us that it was worth the effort and dedication, the wait was slow but it finally arrived. Doing things well has its rewards and we are seeing them.

Sí, son híbridas, su proceso de floración no depende de insectos. Vienen tratadas de laboratorio incluso traen un recubrimiento de fungicidas
