Have you heard of tiger nut?

Have you taken kunuaya at one point or the other?

Well, kunuaya is a popular drink in Nigeria, mostly prepared by the Northerners but it is now widely loved by many both young and old.

The milky drink - Kunuaya or kunu, for short is produced from tiger nut and most people also add dates to the recipe.

Men love this drink so much because it is believed to boost libido and make them last long in bed. It is a natural aphrodisiac, hence the reason men love to have the drink or even eat the nut without the whole process of turning to milk.

Apart from boosting libido and increasing sperm count in men it also contains several nutrients such as vitamins, iron, calcium, fiber, potassium etc.

More importantly, the drink is milky and so sweet and it is loved by young and old, men and women.

Tiger nut is either in the dry form or fresh form. The ones in the pictures used for this post are dried ones. The fresh ones are mostly preserved in a bucket and it always covered by water so that it will look fresh at all times.

How to prepare milk from tiger nut

  • Soak your tiger nut and dates (optional) in a clean water for about a day or two.
  • Remove the seed from the dates. It is very hard that it can't blend and it may spoil the blades of your blender.
  • Blend the soaked dates and tiger nut in a blender or juice maker.
  • Separate the milk from the shafts with a clean/new handkerchief or net sieve.

You need to try it. It's quite easy to make too. You may prepare it yourself or buy from people that sell. You may not like it if you buy from the wrong person and it may change your opinion about it. Most people mix with too much water so that they can have more to sell.

Regards!

Now i know that tiger nuts have so much benefit to the health...
