They say the journey is more important than the destination. Which is true, metaphysically.
But, in this case, climbing a giant rock, 740 steps, was an arduous task and what justified it was the destination—specifically, the breath-restoring view.
Here it is half way up:
Before climbing, with extended family, we’d stopped to grab a bite, but the climbers in our group were encouraged to eat, lightly.
Yet, I wanted to have the cake and to eat it, too—-greedy gourmand that I am, hungry for sensory experience.
It didn’t make the climb easier, but by the time we came to the top, the sheer beauty of the vista justified everything.
This is part of my Visit Colombia, propaganda. I’ve been around a dozen times, and every time there’s more to see/learn.
