Happy Easter & Passover, Palestine — remembering my grandmother

Thinking of poor Palestinians, a once maritime people cannot go to the Mediterranean... Tragic. My grandmother, Rabiha Dajani, is from Bethleham; a school was named after her in Hebron (al Khalil) on land she donated to build the school on. She was a prominent school teacher and social activist. Here's a picture of her collecting donations for the revolutionaries, Jaffa Road with the Fast Hotel in the background, Jerusalem, 1938. Source: Walid Khalidi: Before Their Diaspora.

Her husband, my grandfather whom I was named after, Yahia Lababidi, was a celebrated musician, poet and something of a national treasure, I'm proud to say :)

Wishing you all a Happy Easter/Passover/Ramadan & that peace may prevail in our troubled world.

For all who believe in wonder and hope without limits…
For all who believe in undying goodness and resurrections

For all who Believe:

Wishing you and your loved ones a Blessed Easter/Passover/Ramadan 🙏🏽✨

May we consent to be reborn—with humility & gratitude...

I'm still learning about my family history as I dig deeper. Discovered this delightful description of my grandmother, in a memoir by a distinguished author/activist, Ghada Karmi, who was set up by my grandmother to marry my dad!

Mrs Rabiha Dajani, an eccentric, opinionated and imperious character in her eighties who was the nearest thing I knew of a Palestinian Grande Dame

I hope to visit the Holy Land, one day 🙏🏽✨
