Hola mis estimados amigos de Proof of Brain hace poco releyendo acerca de la historia de la humanidad para una de mis clases, especialmente de las huellas que dejo el siglo XX, me topé con un autor que decía que el siglo XX podía considerarse como el siglo donde mayor número de muertes a nivel mundial y guerras había existido a la par de las innovaciones tecnológicas.

Las explicaciones dadas por Daisaku Ikeda Presidente de la Soka Gakkai Internacional (Organización Budista) decían lo siguiente “El siglo XX fue una era signada por un extremo desprecio a la vida humana, en que el hombre dilapidó, secó y contaminó las inapreciables vertientes de la vida” (2001, pág. 9) El párrafo citado me hizo pensar profundamente en lo que será el legado de este siglo XXI, que dirán de nosotros las generaciones futuras si es que acaso les dejamos algo de planeta donde existir.
Just remembering the 20th century as a century of death makes me reflect about this 21st century where the material has taken the place of the essential and spiritual, where humanity became nothing more than a forgotten word for many, today in the middle of a pandemic or a post pandemic, however you want to see it for me we are still in the middle of a major public health problem, which has caused millions of deaths throughout the world, I wonder where are we going?
Tan sólo recordar el siglo XX como un siglo de muerte me hace reflexionar acerca de este siglo XXI donde lo material ha ocupado el lugar de lo esencial y espiritual, donde la humanidad pasó a ser nada más que una palabra olvidada para muchos, hoy en medio de una pandemia o una post pandemia, como quieran verlo para mí seguimos en medio de un gran problema de salud pública, que ha causado millones de muertos en toda la tierra, me pregunto ¿hacia dónde vamos?.

Are we perhaps taking a minute to think about the future implications of our actions, while some of us try in any way to maintain a little sanity in the midst of so much chaos there are those who are determined to selfishly destroy what little is left of the planet, while there are those who fight for a piece of land others plan trips to space and even talk about buying their own star. The XXI century will be remembered, I insist, if there is anyone left to remember, in a temporary space where the human being destroyed himself in his eagerness to achieve more and more material wealth, power and technological dominance.
Estamos acaso tomando un minuto para pensar en las implicaciones a futuro de nuestras acciones, mientras unos tratamos de cualquier forma de mantener un poco de cordura en medio de tanto caos hay quienes se empeñan en destruir egoístamente lo poco que queda del planeta, mientras hay quienes pelean por un trozo de tierra otros planean viajes al espacio y hasta hablan de comprar su propia estrella. El siglo XXI se recordará, insisto si queda alguien para recordar, en un espacio temporal donde el ser humano se destruyó así mismo en su afán por alcanzar más y más riqueza material, poder y dominio tecnológico.

Today we know that this pandemic is just a part of something that was already a great disaster, I would like to think positively of the XXI century but that would be trying to cover the sun with a finger as is commonly said over there. Today it is necessary that people take control of their existence from the commitment with everything that surrounds them, because as long as we think we are islands and our life goes by without a direct and sincere connection with our environment and all the beings that surround us we will be creating a void in the history of humanity.
Hoy sabemos que esta pandemia es tan solo una parte de algo que ya era un gran desastre, me gustaría pensar en positivo del siglo XXI pero eso sería tratar de tapar el sol con un dedo como muy comúnmente se dice por allí. Hoy hace falta que las personas tomen el control de su existencia desde el compromiso con todo lo que les rodea, porque mientras pensemos que somos islas y nuestra vida transcurra sin una conexión directa y sincera con nuestro entorno y todos los seres que nos rodean estaremos creando un vacío en la historia de la humanidad.
We still have a long way to go in this century and I really wish that all of us who inhabit this common home called Planet Earth understand the great responsibility we have to ourselves in the here and now but also for future generations. It is not about living, it is about existing with the commitment to make our passage through this space and time something truly memorable and worth remembering.
Aún nos falta camino por andar en este siglo y realmente quisiera que todos los que habitamos esta casa común llamada Planeta Tierra entendemos la gran responsabilidad que tenemos para con nosotros mismos en el aquí y el ahora pero también para las generaciones futuras. No se trata de vivir se trata de existir con el compromiso de hacer de nuestro paso por este espacio y tiempo algo realmente memorable y que valga la pena recordar.
