A lot of things we do from the childhood till the end of the life. It is kind of hard to move on. We invest so much time and the mental resource into things that giving it away is a bit tough. And we can't understand the fact that we all have to keep things behind us.
In short, moving on is the hardest part in the life.
Let's take a look at our childhood. Many among us live in a life as if we can never share our toys or the food. And that habit continues as we become the adult. Even after divorce that mentality continues and we tend to demand things from others.
Again in short moving on is harder.
Let's take example of the relationship, we get into marriage or long term relationship of any sort. And we realize that we can't take the relationship further and find it harder to give up on the relationship as well. Here things get even harder as the adult life is where we have more of pain.
Again you can realize how harder it is to move on.

Why Moving on Is Hard
We are often conditioned to have it all. You can say parents, friends, system some of the time has spoiled us all. And so moving from the things becomes harder because we are conditioned to realize that there is no such thing as "No". And that sort of the approach leads to we getting more pain when we have rejection and we cant move on from the loss.
Conclusion
As you can see from the examples and the general idea of the moving on. You can say moving on is harder as long as you are more attached to the outcomes, people and the process. You have to detach from everything sometimes to move ahead.
