Power; The Dominion

Mere hearing the word "power" a lot of people might quickly associate it with governance, this would be understandable. When you look at the world currently, it has changed and this might do with how the concept of power has evolved overtime. Power of course is the free will to enact without the fear of consequences. In any interpretation you'll have of power, somehow, this definition reverberating inside of it. Humans are expressive of dominion, by default; a type of freedom which can often be interpreted as a power to showcase influence over something expressing dominion itself is a manifestation of power. One's ability to control their immediate surrounding and bending it to their wills is power and here's is an example of expressiveness that we often underestimate.

The Power Of Expression...

If you look at the 20th century or maybe centuries back. This is was probably limited. A lot of people envisage the power of expression to quite a minimal level, but the truth is nowadays people can express themselves way beyond their reckoning. Back in the days being black or being gay or being a woman brings a sort of limitation to how a person can express themselves, this is because of how unilateral a lot of human ideologies were back then. For example being black living in a foreign or white country can limit how wealthy you're supposed to be, so also this created a sort of inferiority. Being able to express difference wasn't really embraced, people were expected to tow a line without breaking a chain and trying to do this can be detrimental.

Back in Nigeria there wasn't what you'll call universal suffrage, voting was limited to men and this means a woman can hardly express herself politically even it she had brilliant ideologies that could change the world. The truth is, the power of expression is important for human development inasmuch as the "over-expressiveness" can be somewhat unbecoming. Nevertheless humans aren't meant to be refrained, secluded or unilateral in their ability to express.

The Human Mind...

The human mind is the definition of power, this means we're not limited in thoughts, actions, decisions, the ability to discern and the power to create awesome innovations, this is power in itself, when we make a comparison to other species, we're miles different, this is while we often have a sense of dominion, we can manipulate our environment to suit our needs and cravings.

Psychological Speaking...

Look around; the earth, the forest, the ability to mine mineral resources, how we have found food in the seas, build houses and skyscrapers without seeking the authority of an external power or having to conform to a sort of control beyond our capacity. Physically we're the definition of expression and the will and the ability to enact change, bend our world or tweak it to our advantage is the definition of true power which sometimes we even fail to realise.

In Other Words... Power & Legitimacy

People are freer nowadays to somewhat be expressive and this is power. Sometimes we have the capacity to decide our lives, the way we want to look (to an extent), the way we want to talk or dress. The ability to fail or succeed can sometimes be dependent on us. We're key characters in how our lives eventually turns out. When we talk about power, it deals with many narratives, firstly while we're not the initiators in our lives, we're the architects.

In recent times we've sophisticated the meaning of power as the ability to give freedom. When we look at our political systems we see democracy rather than feudalism or maybe totalitarianism and communism. This means we humans have come to understand that true power comes from acceptance. The sovereignty that's gotten rather than taken. Authority lies with legitimate power and I recent times we have come to understand that power can only be respected and not abused by a person who wields it when it's legally given.

Sort:

For example being black living in a foreign or white country can limit how wealthy you're supposed to be, so also this created a sort of inferiority.

This is still happening today in my country. In the area of cryptocurrency, we are restricted to what and what we can do with crypto coins and investments. As it is we are operating on a peer to peer transactions, and cannot access some exchanges because of the rules of our government

Back in Nigeria there wasn't what you'll call universal suffrage, voting was limited to men and this means a woman can hardly express herself politically even it she had brilliant ideologies that could change the world.

Silently, this is still happening. I guess this is why we are having feminists arise on a daily basis. That is because women are looking for equal rights to express themselves and be able to live independently of men and their rules.

we can manipulate our environment to suit our needs and cravings.

This is true. We have a mind that is likely to rule, manipulate, control, etc, This is done in order to suit our cravings, needs, and yearnings as you said

As humans, we exercise the true definition of power by the ways we live. We are higher creatures they say, and it is likely we think more intelligently than the other animals on earth. So we have been able to come up with inventions, and discoveries that have made living on earth comfortable for all of us. This is exercising power in all factors of life as you said.

The overall enactment of power by humans is found in the freedom we enjoy. We are free to express ourselves in any manner we deem fit, we are also able to do whatever it is that we want. we dress the way we want. Move, eat, evolve, constantly with no restriction

great entry sweetie. I wish you luck in the contest

Thought-provoking write-up with some great insights within. I personally liked;

This means we humans have come to understand that true power comes from acceptance.

There are definitely displays of power out there which are completely unacceptable but the true power, as you say, is what we as humans deem as acceptable and are willing to stand by and live with.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Thank you very much, I particularly took my time to write this, I believe that unacceptable display of power is evolving and very soon we would see a certain kind of power which is directly given from the people, this would make the world a more liberal place to live in. One of the problems the world is currently facing is giving power to the wrong people and hence we have this massive disrespect of it. True power lies in acceptance.

You are a very thoughtful man @josediccus and I admire your hope in humanity. I'm afraid the world is going back to feudalism, totalitarianism and communism more and more. It seems to be a regression in thought and systems. Real power should have real responsibility but instead it leans toward corruption. When it comes down to it I think forgiveness is the only true power.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

You're totally right, but then I believe we have come really far. Take a look at how the world was in the past, sincerly I think it's getting better. I have hope in humanity even if this might take a thousand or more years to achieve but then we can't ignore the fact that the world is power crazed, it corrupts and it eats deep.

The fact that I can still contact with you after three years on this funky block chain is evidence that there is freedom and mobility. You are allowed to think and your voice is still heard. Power is a difficult topic to discuss because we are the ones responsible for the power we carry whether it is outward power or inward power.

Your article is full of great thoughts on expressionist power, I found it quite enlightening. Thank you for a wonderful read.

Good Luck in the contest.

Thanks you, hoping to make a statement or an impact.

A great and creative way to express different points of view on the extensions of the word power (which, really, are many). Talking about that word is really interesting, because power has countless interpretations (according to the perceptions of each person).

Yeah, power has countless interpretations truly and this is probably the reason why I thought about this because I believe no one has written from my point of view which actually makes it really unique, thanks for dropping by, it's been amazing responding with the answers.

What an intelligent contribution...this is lovely @josediccus

Yeah it is, thanks for highlighting that.

Power is a great thing,it is when the power is abused that it becomes a problem....

In Nigeria there was no such thing as universal suffrage, voting was limited to men and this means that a woman can hardly express herself politically, even if she has brilliant ideologies that could change the world. The truth is that the power of expression is important for human development to the extent that "overexpression" can be somewhat inappropriate. However, humans are not meant to be restrained, isolated, or one-sided in their ability to express themselves.

From my side, I can say that it is worse than this... everything is a lie, everything is fixed. The governments do not comply with the suffrage, they seek to be silent and lie, making "toy" political elections. Here we are all clowns... they laugh at everything and we, to avoid so much blood ... many times we just swallow. (I live in Venezuela!). I think there will come a point where silence will not be the main thing, voices will surely be raised! Greetings.
