Who Do You Create Content For?

I have run into humps and bumps with content creation since I landed on SteemHive. I came in thinking I was going to be a video content creator. But at that point Hive was more a blogging site and I dare say, still is. I enjoy the video-making process but I've actually had Hivers who've dropped in just to tell me they do not have the time to watch a video. Thank goodness, I have rediscovered my love for writing thanks to the freewrites.

Like a yo-yo, I have gone back and forth, looking for the foothold of what would work best. I tested out different ways of being a "better" content creator here on the Hive. Joining tribes and communities, studying what's considered "good" - and I don't have the answer.

The big question - Do you create content for yourself or for those who consume it?

My goal here on Hive is to create content that will be timeless. Even though there is a window of 7 days for the upvotes, I want it to be somewhat interesting 5 years from now - for me, for my kids, for their kids, for friends, for strangers, for anyone who might chance upon my posts. Especially since it is immutable.

Some say they write about what they want to write about. And then there are the professional bloggers with a game plan, produce content with their target market in mind to grow their brand, to scale.

So, what about you? Who do you create content for? Are you writing for yourself, is Hive a personal journal? Or perhaps Hive is a place to create content so friends from real life and made over discord can upvote? Or do you create content with the reader in mind? If that's true do you think your writing style is effective? Are your topics appealing? Do you do homework to improve? Do you think it matters?

There's no right or wrong - I just want to get a better understanding of your thought process when it comes to your headspace here on Hive.

Questions:
👉Do you create content solely to earn Hive tokens?
👉If yes, then do you whip out something, anything as long as there's something to post? (I've done it too, just saying)
👉Do you create because you enjoy it and feel if others like it then great but if not, no sweat?
👉Do you plan your content, so you can grow your brand? (and get to the point so you can make a living doing it)
👉Or is it none of the above and you have a totally different understanding and strategy for yourself on Hive?

I know some could be sensitive, but if you choose to share your thoughts, I want you to know absolutely no judgement.

Thank you for reading,
Till next time, Carpe Diem!

Okay I wrote a 364 word response and decided I'll make a post of it.
This is what I've been thinking about all day.

I write to please myself, to be heard, so my voice ,maybe recognized because I write stuff of value.

Although I don't need to be validated, when I find others who appreciate my work, it motivates me to do more to do better and produce content of better value everyday.

Yes, I do get annoyed when I see a post with one line and a crappy image getting more attention. I am only human.

Let's not kid ourselves here, everyone spends time and effort for money, I am not greedy, but I need some. I am being honest and realistic.

There are some stuff that I write purely for myself like my poetry which I usually keep in my own personal blog.
That is how I feel.

It is a balance of finding what you enjoy and what your tribe will too for sure

Of course, we are here to make some money. In a perfect world, our passion rewards us, right? :D

I am going to read your post now. Thank you for sharing your thoughts @sofs-su :D

Felicidades...

Hello, I stopped to read, how interesting your writing. I think that we are all always going to differ from each other in something; However, I think the interesting thing about living is knowing how to understand and respect the other even with certain or many differences. I've always said, I don't have friends to be and think like me, I have friends of all colors, genres, places; they think and act differently from me; because if we were all equal the world would stop working, there would be nothing new to see. I think the interesting thing is in a little of each thing. Congratulations...

This was so beautifully said, I had to keep the translated version here for anyone else 😊
