The Yoruba tribe is one of the most vital and important tribe or ethnic group here in Nigeria ,which consist of six state which will have Lagos, ondo, Ekiti,Oyo, Ogun and Osun, but the state are not our main focus now as I want to talk about how traditional marriage happen In this part of the country.let me say congratulations to @shepz1 again cause his wedding post actually gave me this mindset too.

The Yoruba tribe is one of the most vital culture and it traditional engagement is arguably one of the best in terms of traditional engagement as it entails alot of even lt and happenings too ,it is well stated that a lady is not legally married to a man until some rite are performed or put in place and to me that is the joy of the tribe. After a man and a woman as agreed to marry each other in this tribe the necessary rite are as fellow below

meeting with the bride family (moi n mo)

Having agreed to marry each other, the both family proceed to the introduction level where by both families get to know each other after a date as been picked and all arrangement as been well done, this avenue makes the bound looks stronger and also serves as a means of sanctioning the coming together of the two children from different families.

In the process of this thier are some requirements that the man and his family needs to bring to meet and item's that they need to bring along in order to meet all the necessary requirements that he needed to meet, thing's which are called the wife material (Eru iyawo),which consist of alot of items like butter kola , drinks ,Yam,Oil,One big suitcase and different fabrics ranging from Ankara to lace with jewelries too and Many more.with all this listed items and
others that are not listed here makes up what the man needs to come with on the engagement day and this technically means that the man is ready for the ceremony too.

The engagement ceremony then kick's off after all the necessary requirements as been met too and this engagement day is a very big day just as I have mentioned above where both families get to know each other and with the man and his families coming to pay homage to the bride family, one of the most important part of it is where the groom friends have to prostate to show respect

to the family of the groom and a means of saying they have come to beg for the hand of thier daughter in marriage, aside this, a sum of money is been paid by the groom family as bride price ,but which the bride family normally return as a means of saying thier daughter is not for sale.

After all this as been done and both families have gotten to know each other during the engagement with the help of the master of ceremony (Alaga ijoko) who is going to act as an intermediary between both families on that day too,it is well said that they are now one and white wedding or what will called church wedding can now fellow too.

Thanks for reading ,once again congratulations to @Shepz1

Nice ceremony, I like the photo of the wedding ceremony on the open area. Is that a must?
