Procrastination, My Dead External Hard Drive and Three Sisters Sunrises

in Proof of Brainlast month

As I continue to recover my data from an external hard drive crash, I ran across some old pictures that I had kind of forgot about. I decided to give these shots some new life with a few Lightroom tweaks. I run all my photographs through Lightroom but because of some operator (me) error these needed a lot more creative medelling. 😀

Fortunately it looks like I am going to be able to recover all my photographs😓 and hopefully this little post will get me out of my slump and allow me to start posting a bit more. The possibility of losing so many photos really did a number on my psyche. I learned my lesson though about procrastination and ignoring the warning signs of imminent failure of my drive. I have two new external hard drives and 1 additional internal hard drive to install. I am going to be prepared for the next failure. 😀

These were all taken during the winter of 2018-19 from a popular little spot in our town in Central Oregon where tourists and locals alike come to view the mountains.

We are blessed with a lot of sunny weather as the Cascade Mountain Range keeps a lot of the clouds from moving eastward off the Pacific ocean and into our region.

I know how you feel after having my pc do the blue screen of death on me back in Jan. Took 3 months to get everything back but thankfully managed to recover it all so I'm glad you are able to too!

Lovely photos and the Rocky Mountain range is one of my favourite places in USA. I remember travelling around in various stages from a few years back and can't beat the freshness of that mountain air 🙂

Yeah, it wasn't much fun. I am going to set up some redundant backups going forward. Don't want to be caught in that position again. :)

The western US does have a lot of sights to see. I am looking forward to be able to get back out and start exploring it!

Nice photographs... Oregon looks really beautiful! Lucky that you'll be able to recover all your photos. It has been a couple of months since I last backed mine up, I'd better get to it.

Thank you! I am blessed to have a lot of beautiful subject matter close at hand for photography.

I got two new drives in the mail yesterday so I will be doing a little backup and sorting this weekend. :)

I saw some lines that refer to your photos, @oldmans, as "nice". Oh, my God, they are wonderful!

Thank you, much appreciated! I accept all types and degrees of admiration. ;)

Beautiful shots, oldmans! You're lucky to live near such an expanse... I too live in a rural area with its own particular beauty. I should follow your lead and share more, take more photographs. :)

Thank you!

I am lucky, there is a lot of natural beauty around me and taking/sharing photos is very cathartic for me. :)

It looks like the, weather was calm in these photos. Great images.

Thank you!

They were calm and cold mornings. I'm glad spring is here now. :)

Procrastination sucks! Don't go that way, @oldmans... Haha!

P.S.: Such great shots! Beautiful places.

I know right! After everything I read and post about on POB and I go and take the negative route. lol.

These are really nice shots and you did a great job with the edit

It would be really stupid(I don't mean this in an insulting manner, I hope you understand) to allow them to go to waste

I am glad you have made provisions for you to never lose your files anymore

I may recommend something better for these scenarios though. You could store all of your files on your google drive. It allows you to store up to 15GB of data

That way you never get to lose them anymore.

Thank you!

to allow them to go to waste

I do keep most every shot I take. Some of the older ones do get forgotten or hidden some times. This disaster just got me to look at them again. Something I may have to do more often. :)

It allows you to store up to 15GB of data

I take all my pictures in raw format (better for processing in Lightroom) which make for pretty large files. Consequently I already have over 1 TB of photos to store not counting older pictures and all my other data. I just need to accept that adding more storage with external drives is going to be a cost of my photography hobby. :)

Ouch! That is true. You need to get used to the storage size you will be needing for your hobby

Keep the passion flowing

Hopefully Hive can help pay for some of the upgrades in the future. :)

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Of course, I am optimistic that Hive will be able to do that in the future.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Lovely photos, which camera did you use to take those shots??@oldmans

Posted via proofofbrain.io

It's a Nikon D3300. I have had it about 5 years. Been thinking a little bit about upgrading. :)
