TRUE LOVE IS COMPLICATED BY OUR SELF-INTEREST

Let me tell you a secret that you probably know already but are not willing to admit. Unconditional love, the kind that pours meaning and significance into your life, is hard to find in another human being because we are all too self-interested and too self-motivated. Our hearts are bent toward protecting and promoting ourselves. It is not hard to see! We live in a culture that constantly measures every relationship by what we get out of it. We stay married only as long as it is benefiting us. We commit to a relationship only until something better comes along. The success of our relationships is measured by our need for love is being met, instead of seeking to meet the need for true love in others.

The Bible speaks clearly to this fact. It calls our bent toward self-interest sin, and it was neither the way humanity nor the world was created originally. Adam and Eve were the first to experience love and it was much deeper than what we call love today. Adam and Eve’s relationship was perfectly woven together with one another, with God, and with the enjoyment of creation around them. There was no self-interest. Instead, their whole lives were shaped by caring for each other, caring for the world around them, and thanking God for the experience. Neither Adam nor Eve ever felt a moment of fear, rejection, or failure.

Interesting write up. Indeed true is void of self interest or self desire. True love is unconditional. When we love someone for a certain reason, we truly never love that person as love is without attachment to a particular thing.

The only true love resonates from the only true God as was shown through his Son Christ Jesus. Giving his Son to save mankind from their sins. I might be sounding a little spiritual here, all I am trying to do is to pick a very salient point, the Father did what he did not because of himself but because of the Love for his creation. That's a case of genuine love, a love with self interest. A reckless kind of Love.

When we try to love some one, it shouldn't come from our desire or emotion, it should be without reason. Not without a clause or secret intention. Love is sacrifice, it's not something our flesh can do. It sometimes hurtful but with deep care from our spirit.

This is a very good content from you and I can't not but say one or two things about it , cause it is really a very good one when it comes to the topic of love.

To me naturally the word love this days as actually suffered what I called misplaced priority as it purpose as been defeated by the selfish interest which as been applied into it by human.

It as now go out of what the bible preaches or what God himself makes us understand in the scripture in which he himself demonstrated by showing us love unconditionally.

For God so love the world that he gave us his only begotten son, that who so ever believe in him will not die,but have everlasting Iife.

To me the above statement is one of the surest kind of love that we received as human, but the level of shown to each other this days come with a crucial benefit from one of the party involved.

This selfish reason to me as actually put an end to Relationship or affairs cause it always comes to an end once the benefits attached to it is no longer working for the two parties involved, just because it foundation too was built on selfish reasons
