Teaching my child the importance of being social

Hello to all the beautiful mommies!

I'm sure for all the corona time parents things would have been really hard, managing their child all by themselves without much of help from nannies, not being able to take your children out for a walk or in the park for rides, not exposing your child to crowd in malls and shopping arenas and not letting them meet their relatives as well.

Tough times are kind of over now, vaccines are out and it's time to give the exposure to your child that they deserve and much require. It's very important for a child to get social, meet people, see new faces, make friends and survive in crowd. Unfortunately. corona destroyed it for all but not we need to quickly get back and pick up the pace.

I want Raag to be an extrovert. Not that if he would be an intorvert I would raise any concerns. But I want him to be social, to be able to gel well with people, talk to them, able to make small talks and make friends easily.

For that, I take him to park regularly where he meets his friends. Yes, he has made some friends already and gets all excited to see them. Let me show you.

Kids are at their best age to be nurtured, they will take the shape basis how you mold them. It's on the parent, how they want their child to shape up.

My son told me that there are 4 kinds of parents:

  • kangaroo parents
  • helicopter parents
  • tiger parents
  • free range parents

He said I'm somewhere between free range and helicopter and my wife is somewhere between tiger and kangaroo.

You can see in their eyes that these kids absorb everything. They know what their parents love and where their parent's time and heart goes. Soon they follow. We really cannot teach our kids anything but we can set a priority in our own life to walk the direction we would like them to follow. In the meantime we can provide an environment. From what I can see the play ground is the best environment especially if they have a chance to fall down and get hurt and have some arguments with friends. Some kids never got a chance to play in the playground and have fights with friends. Now they are adults and parliament members and still act like babied. It Korea it is even more evident.

These are lawyers and elected officials.

Haha, so very true.
There are certain behavioural traits that we just can’t change in kids. But they follow what we do right from the day they start to understand things. So yes, follow what you want to preach is the best way.

Also, what are these kinds of parents? Tell me more so that I can identify my type 😀

Maybe I over simplified this:

  • kangaroo parents - never let the kid our of your pouch.
  • helicopter parents - circle around your kids. Let them have a little space but as soon as there is any trouble you zoom in and try to make things better (although often times we just interfere).
  • tiger parents - make sure your kid wins by any means.
  • free range parents - give your kids a lot of space and let natural consequences be their teacher.

None of these are "good" parenting traits but are more like stereotypes.

Hahaha so funny

Yes, we are social animals and we need each other to survive!

Corona got nothing on us thanks to vaccination. Its time to move on.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful moment with us.

It is extremely important to have children learn about social behavior especially because it is the basis for healthy relationships. Thank you for sharing
