Sacré-Cœur, Paris

in Proof of Brain3 years ago (edited)

Let's continue our tour through Paris with the Sacré-Cœur!

This church is is a Roman Catholic church and a minor basilica in Paris which is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The name literally means sacred heart. It took 39 years to construct this building and was completed in 1914. It is located on the highest hill of the city which gives this great overview of Paris.

When we got there, it first started to rain and everybody tried to rush into this building. As it was too crowded we decided to wait a bit until the weather would get better again. It took a bit longer than expected, but we finally made it...

The Before and After:

It's pretty hard to get a piucture of the church that fits in a single frame. But if one walks the staris up or down in the center, it's possible.

The entrance is guarded by some warriors..?

Anyway, the inside halls are probably what you have been waiting for... Fortunately entrance back when we vistied was free of charge and one can walk in a circle around the main hall.

There are many statues, paintings, symbols etc. It deifnitely takes a bit to soak it all in... so if you visit, don't rush through it!
