FungiFriday - the smallest of the small ones

tiny mushrooms pine cone 1.jpg

I sit here staring at the photos I just finished editing and I am trying to remember if I have ever found smaller mushrooms.

(10 min later)

Nope.. I don't think so. This must be the tiniest I ever shot.

And I was THIS CLOSE to missing them. I saw the white ones from the first image first and got close to take the terrible shot.
But look under the stick. Can you see the threads?
I saw them too - they were sticking out from a tiny cone. It was impossible to shoot it where it was, so I moved it to an old stump for a small session. I am amazed the skinny legs didn't break in the process. It was all covered in sticks an old leaves.

Google is trying to tell me they are called Marasmius crinis-equi aka Rainforest Horsehair. But these were shot in Poland. And Poland is very far away from any rain forest.

Another search suggests Cryptomarasmius corbariensis...

They look the same, dammit!

I will call them rainforest horsehair for now as it is easier to remember. :)

They just pop directly from the little shells.

About an hour later, in a different part of the woods I saw them again. This time accompanied by a lovely orange... something :)

A nice, rotten stick had enough room for them all. It was also quite covered by other sticks and some leaves and I had to gently pull it to be able to shoot.
I did put them back where they were after I was done. I swears!

Very beautiful photos!
But I was especially surprised by the mushrooms growing from cones, it's incomparable!
You are incredibly lucky!!!

Thank you!
It was a very cool find indeed. Never saw them before like that.

I wish you find something else interesting, because then we can see it too!

From a pinecone? Are you kidding me? You didn't take it with you?

And now what for the Christmas tree?
What?

Of course I did :p Who do you think I am?
It was my pc desk decoration for about a week 😂

Huuuuh, good!
Scared me for a moment!

Hello dear friend @ewkaw good afternoon
This mushroom is incredibly small, it's good that you were able to see it, and come out unharmed in the shots and not have an accident with the branches on the ground
Beautiful mushrooms, I appreciate you letting us know
enjoy the weekend

Thank you! It is good to look close to the ground sometimes. Nice treasures hide there :)

While tiny in size, the
"Rainforest Horsehair" mushrooms
are ginormous in their beauty!

Happy Fungi Friday!

Thank you :)

Ewka!!! I’m drafting my mushrooms today, I swears 😂

That little orange something is a nice addition to your shots. I don’t think I’ve seen such a tiny mushrooms around here, but maybe I just didn’t notice?!

Anyways, I ordered some macro lenses for my iPhone. Will see if I can take some nice shots with them one day 😁

I’m drafting my mushrooms today

And for which Friday? 😂😂

They are not easy to spot. First time I saw them this fall. But we know this fall was special for mushrooms.

Yay for macro lens! :D

Haha 😂😂😂 You make me laugh 😂

For this Friday today, I promise! Old pics, but a nice story. Will publish before midnight 😁

It was a very special fall indeed. I found many new species this year 💙

Yea me too! I was so amazed with the varieties growing in local woods.

The twig mushrooms decided they needed a change in diet. Now they are pinecone mushrooms.

I discovered a new specie :P

Oh wow, I have never seen (never imagined actually I could ever see) mushrooms growing from a pinecone!!! Wow 😮

I was surprise myself to find them :D They were just so cute!

Yeaaa I liked them too :) Super happy I finally found them. Before I only saw them on other people photos.

Your soooo lucky… very cool. 😉😁

Wow! Nice photos. These are thinner than needles!

Thank! That are about that size. Pity I didn't have any matches with me to compare them to.

Thank you :)

Wow, these are your best ever @ewkaw, they look so cool growing out of the cone like that!

Thanks! It was a cool find indeed :)

Wow! One thing is to have the skill to photograph the tiny object and the other one is to spot the tiny things around us. Your macro photos truly are always so amazing! Good job!

Thank you! The smaller the more happy camper I am :D

I know that feeling! :)
