There is no Venezuelan home where coffee is not prepared daily, it is part of our tradition and culture.

It is rare that a Venezuelan does not drink coffee. Every Venezuelan wakes up and the first thing we make is coffee.

Maybe some of you are wondering... How is it that Venezuela has one of the best coffees in the world and you didn't know? ...well yes, one of the best coffees in the world is Venezuelan. Before Venezuela was an oil country, one of our commercial strengths was agriculture, among them the exportation of coffee and cocoa.

For what now the national production of Venezuelan coffee has decreased, but not its quality, the coffee cultivated in Venezuela is taken to Colombia and the Colombian coffee companies use it for its high quality, they mix it with their cultivation to achieve a better product thanks to the Venezuelan coffee.

Coffee in Venezuela has its own names according to its preparation, there are many varieties but today I will only talk about the most common ones that are usually served in Venezuelan homes.

Guayoyoyo: This is the lightest coffee and is usually sweeter than the dark coffee. This is the most commonly prepared in Venezuelan homes.

Coffee with Milk: This is the traditional coffee with milk.

Teapot: It is a coffee well loaded with milk, that is why we call it teapot.

Cerrero: This is the dark coffee, very strong, also called black coffee. As we call it here it is a "café negro para espabilarme" which means a coffee to get me out of sleep.

Venezuelans really love coffee, it is not only drunk in the morning, for us any time is a good time to enjoy a good coffee, the only thing you have to have is the desire to drink it.

We drink a good coffee when we wake up, at any other time that provokes us, but it is also common to drink it in the middle of the afternoon with a dessert, cookie, bread or sweet, we drink it alone or with family friends.

When a family member or friend comes to visit us, the first thing that is offered is a coffee, no matter how it is prepared, from the cloth strainer which is the most used by Venezuelans or with an electric coffee maker, coffee is part of us, every Venezuelan home has the aroma of coffee.

I hope that wherever you are, you are enjoying a delicious cup of coffee.

Hello @cvnuitter

Welcome to Cinnamon Cup Coffee, I'm glad you found your way here. Thank you @discoveringarni for the referral 😊. Much appreciated!
I like the different kinds of coffee you've listed and the ones more popular amongst Venezuelans.
Do you normally have the Guayoyoyo with milk too? It looks appealing by your description of it being light and sweeter than the dark coffee.
Last week I had so many Venezuelans pop by, that it got me researching your country. I was surprised to discover how big the coffee culture is and customary for locals to drink it every day.
I met your former president Chavez, and he never missed a beat to remind us of the importance of energy conservation ;)
Thank you for stopping by, please feel free to pop by anytime.☕️
Have a great day 💐

Hi @millycf1976 thanks for this warm welcome, it's really great how Colmena and the love for coffee connects us in the distance.

I'm glad you like the coffee culture of Venezuela today I made my second post in the community, talking about the best vanilla latte that is the Cafeteria Artesano, I promise to post more about the coffee culture in Venezuela, the guayoyo is very rich. And yes, I also drink coffee with milk with a touch of cinnamon, I love that flavor.

I am thrilled that you have the joy of having known Chavez, he left us many teachings. A hug from Venezuela 🤗 🇻🇪☕

Hello Vicky @cvnuitter, interesting to learn about the coffee culture of Venezuela and your post makes me curious to try Guayoyo and Cerrero. Thanks for the mention and for your heartwarming compliment. I'm glad you found this community. I enjoy it here, it feels like a virtual coffee house on the Hive. 😀

Hi Armi, I'm just telling the truth, it's great when we can transmit our experiences and emotions with others through our writing.

Hehehehe...that's a great way to see it 😃 , a virtual coffee shop☕☕, I also think this community is wonderful and as a coffee lover I'm sure you will love the guayoyo and the Venezuelan cerrero.
