On the outskirts of Nashville, there is a ranch owned by Theodore Roberts who is about to clock his eighties in a couple of days. Theo's ranch had flourished bountifully over the years and it is known for its fresh coffee beans, but recently sales is low and repressing. It pains him that his workers had been cut down to a few because of low sales. As he watches his workers working and doing their duties, he is feeling a little lonely, a tad melancholy since he was about to hand over the ranch to his three children as it worries him if his children will carry on his legacy.

With the sun setting and the workers were done for the day, Noah, the Manger, stayed behind to clean up while Theo sits back down on the patio chair and waits for him to report sales and income for the day. Looking around, he sighs, taking note of every detail that surrounds his property, and remembers the first time he and his wife, Sharon bought the ranch after the Second World War. He mutters to himself, "good memories of you Sharon"

"Theo, how are you today?" Noah asked, getting Theo's attention.

"Ah, I am doing good. Done for the day buddy?"

"Yes sir."

"How were the sales today? Any improvements?"

"Em, just a couple, but I am not happy about the old coffee beans in the shade as they have lost their flavor. What can we do with coffee beans?"

Theo was pensive for while and then he said, "I can't just throw them awesome. I will take care of it. it's just a bag right?""*

"Yes sir."

"Don't worry I will take care of it." With that Theo and Noah said their goodbyes. Theo watched Noah as he walked away and he muttered to himself, "I see you on the other side, good friend"

He sits back in thought and decides to make a cup of his favorite tea before going to bed. Making his tea, his thoughts drift off to his son and his daughters. He knew they would come to visit by tomorrow morning, which is Thanksgiving and he couldn't wait to see them all. He remembers how the delicious aroma of well-cooked food is in the air all around the house, the giggles of his daughters in the kitchen helping their mother out, and the sounds his son makes while playing with his toys. He chuckled and went to the shade where the old bag of coffee beans was kept.

Sitting close to the bag of coffee he begins to think of how he would dispose of it but remembers it's been a while since he had painted, then he thinks back to the portrait he made of Sharon back when he was courting her and then realized the portrait is now old and vague in appearance. Immediately he looks for a coffee grinder and grinds the old coffee beans into both smooth and coarse textures. He then made them into paints of various colors and mixtures. After which he was done, he realized his time was limited. Quickly he started to paint Sharon, his beautiful wife who died thirty decades ago, and ever since he wished he could have left with her, but fate had a different plan for him.

It is almost dawn as it is 5 am. Exhausted, Theo looked at all the paintings he made from all his memories in his mind, and realized he made paintings of special and lovely memories he had with Sharon. Looking at all the paintings, it was like he was watching his beautiful memories with her play all over again. He begins to sob bitterly as he misses her all over again. Tears begin to fall endlessly from his eyes as he continues reminiscing about his life with his wife and children. He slowly got up, feeling so tired and he decided to call it a night and got into bed.

As soon as he closed his eyes, sleep claimed him into a beautiful dream he thought was real. In his dream, he hears a knock on his door, he quickly opens the door and it is Sharon!. She stood there looking beautiful and smiling, her green eyes shining brightly. She walks towards him holding a bouquet in her hands and gently placing the bouquet in front of him. Theo was shocked by the flowers but he was happy as he hugged her tightly in his arms. They both smile at each other happily and she says,*“I missed you so much, Theo. "I missed you too, my dear wife". And then he took his last breath.

Theo's children arrived only to discover their father had died in his sleep and found lots of freshly made paintings and portraits they suspected was the last thing he did before he died. They also discovered a little note he wrote in which he wished his children to advertise and sell his paintings. So in his honour and last wish note, they advertised his paintings with the help of Noah hiring a marketing company. The new harvest was all rebranded in Theo's loving memories.

Oh very sad, but at least they managed to find a way to sell all that coffee. It looks like a sacrificial offering. Good story.

Hello a big greeting, I was captivated by your story as I read on until I found that unexpected ending, although at least that way they managed to get out of those coffee beans and remember Theo with those paintings as a tribute, at least I imagine, but it was certainly very sad. Good story.
