#STB The most dangerous coffee killer.

in Cinnamon Cup Coffee2 years ago (edited)

A few years ago the whole city of Maracay was on edge because there was a very dangerous serial killer who every day took victims, but it was not a common serial killer like those you see on tv who kill because they like to eat people or because they suffered trauma or sexual abuse as children and want to pay for their pain with society. This killer was recognizable but extremely effective.

The police had no idea who this killer was, they began to state some conjectures such as:

"This serial killer was very different, as he killed for the simple fact that he did not like people drinking coffee, but this killer was not allergic, rather he was repulsed by the smell of coffee when it was brewed and the aroma of coffee when it was serious. What we do have clear was that when someone drank coffee, a few minutes later he died foaming at the mouth, and this murderer somehow made some drops of cyanide in the coffee cups".

But as uncertainty or recognition generates panic, extreme measures were quickly taken such as a strict quarantine where they stopped selling coffee everywhere, not even the coffee peddlers were seen in the streets, and neither was coffee seen on the supermarket shelves, but this brought as a consequence that productivity in the city fell by 50% and the economy stagnated again, it was a huge disaster. So the government of Maracay saw that it had in its hands a disaster that could unbalance everything in the country, so it asked for international help to investigate this murderer because he was killing without mercy, but worse was the anxiety and fear that existed everywhere.

The best investigators from the FBI, the CIA, Interpol, and all the other government agencies of the most advanced countries came, but they all came to the same dead-end conclusion that they did not know what was going on, this murderer left no clues, no traces, not even a footprint to identify him. They began to investigate the richest merchants in the country because it was assumed that they were trying to destabilize the country through some chemical warfare, but that could not be corroborated effectively.

All the agents were in a dead-end tunnel, and without any hope that they would find answers. Until one day these investigators were in a meeting and they were all given coffee to ease the stress of the enormous pressure on the government in Maracay to find an answer. But when some of them drank sips of coffee they started to get poisoned and foamed at the mouth and fell to the floor dead, but they did not understand how if the whole building was sealed and there was extreme security how the serial killer of coffee had attacked, so they thought it was a spirit or ghost of coffee that was haunting everywhere and punishing coffee addicts.

But when they were doing the autopsy of these agents, the forensic experts for the first time found something that marked a starting point in the investigation of this serial killer. They found some strange spores in some blood and saliva samples. So they sent to analyze in more detail these samples taken from the deceased agents and finally found the truth, they had found the answer they were looking for, but it was more disturbing than usual since there was not a person poisoning the coffees, rather it was a much worse enemy that could attack simultaneously without leaving a trace and fill with fear.

It was a strain of the fungus fusarium buscaban, race 4 tropical that specifically attacked the coffee of the whole region, after mutating and attacking only the coffee, this fungus chemically modified all the coffee plants of the country and all the coffee beans that were traded were infected and were highly dangerous for human consumption, they also understood why they did not find traces in the corpses that they were investigating, and it is that this fungus after poisoning the coffee consumer, dissolves because of the great heat that it is in the region. With all this evidence, a drastic decision was taken in the country.

A national emergency was decreed and coffee plantations were destroyed to prevent the fungus from mutating and taking over other important crops such as corn. But to avoid social anarchy due to the definitive lack of coffee, the best quality beans were imported from other parts of the world with better sanitary controls. But people still live in fear that some strain or mutation of fungus will attack again.

A silent killer... I liked it a lot. Good story.

I didn't think about that ending when I was reading it! Now it scares me to think about the possibility that it could really happen.
Thank goodness I don't live in Maracay!
Excellent reading

Social anarchy controls; a very appropriate way to end. Go figure that fungus could be so ruthless, right? ;) Great write-up!

Are cannibal killers that common? That's alarming!

Killer fungus. Sounds deadly.

Greetings friends, very good this writing, besides what a worrying and stressful situation you are living, I also think it was the best decision, because a simple fungus can bring many problems. A pleasure to have read you, greetings.

Oh no a fungus was responsible. I imagine the government blaming enemy countries hahaha.

Oh no... not another quarantine please 😱 hahahaha, what an amazing story my friend @fabian98, wow at first I thought it was a flesh and blood serial killer and it turns out that all that catastrophe was caused by a simple fungus. A fictional story but not far from reality. I loved reading it and good luck!
