An irresistible mix

Daniel looks at the bundles and does the math. By this point in the harvest, all those bales should have been sold. The year started off well, the weather was excellent, the bushes were as heavy as ever and the harvest was very abundant. All the farmers were celebrating, expecting great profits.

But something happened in the markets, the demand was not as good as the harvest, many orders were cancelled and traditional markets stopped ordering the products. As a consequence, there was a large surplus of coffee that threatened to be irretrievably lost. Time was against Daniel. The last thing he wanted was to have to feed those beans to the pigs.

One morning while watching the news on TV he heard a statement from the cocoa producers, they were not doing well either. They had the same situation as the coffee growers. A large surplus was about to go to waste.

Without thinking too much Daniel decided to go personally to look for a solution with the cocoa people. This meant a journey of a thousand kilometers from the mountainous land where he was located to the coast where the cocoa was grown. He traveled by bus for two days until he reached the largest cocoa-growing town in the region.

As soon as he got off the bus, the first thing he did was to look for the cooperative that grouped the producers in the area. He asked and asked until he found the leaders. One by one he visited them in their homes and asked for an urgent meeting. The producers called the meeting for that same night.

Daniel told them that they had a common problem. There was a production of coffee and cocoa that threatened to be lost, they had to find a solution because he thought that both products could complement each other, coffee and chocolate had a lot of potential to be combined.

They spent the whole night exploring alternatives. Someone proposed a mixed drink. At first the idea was well received, but then they began to think that coffee and chocol lovers were demanding people with strict tastes and that perhaps a mixture would not be well received. Besides, it was the same public that for some reason had stopped consuming that year. They had to look elsewhere...

The night progressed, the tiredness was beginning to show in people's moods. None of the proposed ideas seemed to get them out of the quagmire they were in...

To lower the tension, Daniel took out a bag of candy that he had brought with him and distributed it among the attendees. To each he gave several candies of assorted flavors. The men enjoyed it and continued talking.

At one point in the meeting someone noticed that none of the candies were coffee or chocolate flavored. A light bulb went off in his brain...

The man asked for the floor and proposed the idea, to convince the candy producers to introduce a new flavor, a blend of coffee and chocol that could be very good.

Everyone was enthusiastic about the idea. This could be the solution, after all, it was a different market than the traditional one. Everyone, children, young and old, liked the candy.

Daniel and a cocoa leader were commissioned to go to the country's capital, where the big candy factories were located, to convince the producers to launch the new flavor.

The proposal was well received. The producers explained that it was urgent because production could be damaged in a few weeks. One factory agreed to carry out the test. They would prepare a choco-coffee candy and conduct a pilot study in a shopping center...

The chemists worked tirelessly until they had a mixture that tasted good. They made enough candy to unveil it one weekend in a busy shopping mall.

The study was successful, the new flavor delighted consumers. Now they would launch the advertising campaign for mass distribution throughout the country.

The coffee and cocoa producers had been saved, all the surplus production would be used in the manufacture of the candies. Now they would have to produce for a new market...

Thank you for your time.

Collaboration is very necessary in today's world. It is easier to find solutions to problems together. Thank you very much for stopping by and commenting. Be well dear @leaky20 . A big hug from Maracay.

Here in Canada you can find some very tasty chocolate, coffee and caramel bonbons; and some coffee-cream and chocolate candies similar to the famous “vaquita”, which I don't know if they are still available in Venezuela. The alliances are a marketing strategy.

I remember the vaquita but I'm not sure if they ever made any coffee and chocolate caramel. Thanks for coming and commenting. Be well dear @amigoponc. A big hug from Maracay.
