Coffee is that drink that makes you fall in love, first because of its aroma and then because of its flavor and its versatility. Who doesn't love waking up to the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee? Conversations between friends are more enjoyable if we accompany them with a cup of coffee. And for those days when the desire to work is gone, coffee helps us continue in the battle.
Today I am pleased with this initiative created by friend @ brujita18 in which she invites us to tell our story with coffee. I definitely felt that I should dedicate a post to this faithful companion who encourages me and accompanies me even in the saddest days of my life.
My love affair with coffee started a little late. I must confess that he was conquering me little by little. Despite the fact that coffee was always present in my parents' house, I don't remember liking it, it was something like the drink of adults. However, I always found the whole process of making coffee very interesting, from its collection, selection, roasting, grinding it and then preparing it to finally enjoy it.
I could see all this process in the front row since my maternal grandmother who is originally from the town of Caripe (Monagas State - Venezuela) had coffee fields and my mother knew very well everything that had to be done to be able to enjoy a delicious cup of Creole coffee.
However, my personal history with coffee began after having my children, when the work and daily chores of a mother and a housewife began to overwhelm me. Little by little I got a taste for it and my mornings began to taste like coffee.
I will answer this question from my reality because this is a controversial issue since some say that coffee is harmful to health, while others say that it provides many benefits to the body. For my part, I can say that coffee gives me energy to start my days with better spirits. It is a drink that accompanies my cold days in the literal and figurative sense. However, everything in excess is harmful and this also applies to coffee, that is why you have to be cautious and not exceed the limits.
My sunrises are always flavored by good coffee. My favorite time of the day to drink coffee is undoubtedly in the morning, however the afternoon coffee is that perfect date where coffee and a snack come together.
When I was in Venezuela I used to enjoy the best gatherings with my friend Eliana and coffee was our best accomplice.
Now that my children are grown up I have the joy of being able to share with them the long-awaited "coffee time", this is at 5 in the afternoon when we all stop in our activities and take a moment to share a snack and enjoy a coffee in any of its presentations.
For Venezuelans, coffee is like mate for Argentines and like tea for English. Since Venezuela is a coffee-producing country, it is not surprising that coffee is part of the tradition of Venezuelan families. Of course my family is no exception.
Caripe's Creole coffee was always present in my home. Among the memories of my childhood I can find my mother roasting coffee beans to transform them into that brown powder with a unique aroma.
My father was a regular coffee drinker and even in his convalescent days he asked for a cup of coffee from him and the doctor was not able to refuse it, so it can be said that he drank coffee until the end of his days. It is inevitable to drink coffee and not remember my dad, for that reason and for many other reasons, coffee will always have a special meaning in my life.
