So much fun and yummy stuff I talked about Chiang Khan in my last post about its walking street and food market at night. It was a fun time and for the first night, I already in love with this small little town by the Mae Khong River. It gives such different and no wonder why people found this town interesting and charming and it even became one of the most visited spots in Northeastern Thailand.
It's all about night life on the previous post so here, let's do it a little differently..
Good morning Chiang Khan!
We lucky to get a nice spot to stay, Tao Kae Lao guesthouse just right by the river. We got 2nd floor so in the morning, looking through the window, we can see the river view just right there and the sidewalk along the river where people love to take a walk or ride a bike in the early morning enjoying the Thai-Lao river vibes. We couldn't miss such an activity so yes..
Bike ride and a walk along the river
Love the weather, love the air, love how chill it is and how peaceful in the early morning..
Our guesthouse offer free rent of these vintage looking bicycle so that was awesome. We also took a little walk and also ride a bike for kilometers from one end of the street to the other both by the river and the main tourist street where there are some shops selling local stuff here and there. There are quite a few breakfast places and coffee shops. We have actually tried a few but there's one that's really stand out and I just can't help sharing it with you here!
Uncle bear black drip (ลุงหมีดริปดำ)
Yes, Uncle bear black drip is actually the name of this small little coffee stand right on the main strip in Chian Khan. A simple yet lovely set up. The owner also quite friendly and random as he really just sell this and that each day depends on his mood. Though, one sure thing and being sold everyday is his coffee!
I love how he offer so many roasts + a few different types of coffee from different parts of Thailand so it's pretty good range of variety to choose from. After you pick we pick a coffee of our choice, all is hand ground so you can make sure it will be a fresh cup of coffee. As fresh as it could get! Then the method of making is coffee drip. Just to enjoy the time and the environment of Chiang Khan in the early morning I guess so that's perfect for it!
There's only hot coffee offered. No ice no other things. Just keeping it simple.
Uncle bear serves baby bears
I was surprised when the coffee is served. I didn't expect it would come it a cute little set. One cute Japanese style clay cup of coffee and a little bowl of bear cookies served on a wood try. It was sooooo freaking cute!. The cookies and the hot coffee go together well.
It's perfect for a lovely morning in Chiang Khan, or the other way round, it just perfects the morning in Chiang Khan :)
Chiang Khan to be continue..
Still enjoying Chiang Khan so far.. There are still some more I have to share about the spot as it's so nice and chill! Much good food around and a few surprises here and there like this Uncle bear black drip coffee spot.
Location: Pretty sure this Uncle bear black drip is not on the map but you can look up "Tao Kae Lao Guesthouse" เถ้าแก่ลาว เชียงคาน เกสต์เฮ้าส์. It's almost right across the street from each other and the owners are friends.

Thanks! you basically made me melt easily just like that!
I am glad I did. Well done my friend and have a blessed week ahead too. 🤗
That hotel room looks so cool and the coffee stand is so quaint and charming. Often times, just keeping it simple is the better way to go. "Do one thing really well" as they say.
Biking along the river would be a lot of fun there I bet.
Great photos overall! 👍
It was indeed real nice of an experience overall as well :)
Hello @waybeyondpadthai
Great photos!
I am completely sold on the location. I love rivers and would enjoy staying in accommodation close to one so that I could wander around and chill by the river for a few hours.
The cafe looks on par with the rest of the establishment, so I guess the coffee and other beverages were delightful too.
Thanks for sharing this with us:)))
river all the way! hehehe
Oh yay!!!

Those bear cookies look tasty I also like your purple dress.
