Traditional it is decorated wreaths of fir branches with 4 candles on it. Every Sunday before Christmas, a new candle is lit until all 4 candles burn at Christmas. But meanwhile they can have different forms, some are modern, some old style. In meiner Heimat Österreich ist es Tradtition, die 4 Wochen vor Weichnachten mit einem sogenannten Adventskranz zu schmücken. Dieser leutet für uns die Vorweihnachtszeit ein.
Normalerweise sind es geschmückte Kränze aus Tannenzweigen mit 4 Kerzen darauf. Jeden Sonntag vor Weihnachten wird eine neue Kerze angezündet, bis dann zu Weihnachten alle 4 Kerzen brennen.

The last years I had always decorated this wooden disc with LED candles. But this year I felt like using "real candles". Probably I just need more fire in my life?
Ich habe schon im letzten Jahr (damals noch als absolutes Newbie hier) über das Making of meines Adventskranzes berichtet. Die letzten Jahre hatte ich immer diese Holzscheibe mit LED Kerzen dekoriert. Aber dieses Jahr war mir wieder der Sinn nach "echten Kerzen". Wahrscheinlich brauche ich gerde mehr Feuer in meinem Leben?

Also habe ich diesen Metallständer heraus gekramt um ihn mal wieder zu verwenden. Dazu ein hübscher Unterteller in Gold und beim durchsehen meiner Weihnachtsdeko fiel mir auf, der Weichnachtsengel würde doch mal gut passen. Öfter mal was neues:

Dazu einen Tannenzweig, von dem ich kleine Zweige abgeschnitten habe um zu dekorieren.
The first attempt to simply put the branches on the iron frame I did not like so much. So again from the beginning and the larger branches UNDER the rack and then the smaller branches in between and on top.
Der erste Versuch, die Zweige einfach auf das Eisengestell zu legen hat mir nicht so sehr gefallen. Also nochmal von Anfang an und die größeren Zweige UNTER das Gestell und die kleineren Zweige dann dazwischen und oben drauf.

Ja! Das hat dann schon viel besser ausgesehen. Manchmal beim Basteln oder Dekorieren ist es einfach das Beste, nochmal von vorne zu beginnen.
Then came the angel and other decorative elements, such as the bow, stars and small red Christmas balls.
The pine cones didn't match this year. Let's see, maybe another decorative use can be found, otherwise they have to go back in the box until next year.
Dann kamen der Engel und andere Deko Elemente, wie die Schleife, Sterne und kleine rote Weihnachtskugeln.
Die Tannenzapfen haben dieses Jahr nicht dazu gepasst. Mal sehen, vielleicht findet sich noch eine andere Deko Verwendung, sonst müssen sie bis zum nächsten Jahr wieder in die Schachtel zurück.

The remaining fir branch also came into use with a small string of lights. And now this looks very romantic even when the candle is not burning.
Der restliche Tannenzweig kam mit einer kleinen Lichterkette auch noch zum Einsatz. Und nun sieht das auch dann sehr romantisch aus, wenn die Kerze mal nicht brennt.
Then I just had to wait until evening and dark, make tea, prepare some nuts and gingerbread and then light the first candle. Every year again a very nice moment!
Dann musste ich nur noch warten, bis es Abend und dunkel wurde, Tee kochen, ein paar Nüsse und Lebkuchen herrichten und dann die erste Kerze anzünden. Alle Jahre wieder ein sehr schöner Moment!
