Welcome to #SublimeSunday , a tag presenting you with the unique opportunity to post something a bit different, wacky, crazy or just whatever takes your fancy and instigated by me @c0ff33a ☕️

First up though is a #beautifulsunday (hosted by @ace108) photo with a #funkyedit (hosted by @krazypoet) with Saturation to the Max.

It's been nothing like this all week, clouds, heavy rain, strong winds - it's been wild wet and for me personally frustrating as technology has consistently refused to play ball all sorts of issues and problems making @c0ff33a very grumpy all week.

IMG_6144.jpeg

Not that I have time to be grumpy, because the demand for roasted coffee is continually growing and I'm the one doing all the roasting - so it's been a flat out production week.

IMG_6162.jpeg

And I managed to overcome all those technology issues, the new 30kg Roaster has a built in PLC which allows me to control it with a touch screen, but it also has an Ethernet cable you can connect to a computer - and run profiling software like Artisan Scope or Cropster. Here you can see my new addition, with a wall mounted LCD screen for the computer displaying Artisan Scope. The advantages of the computer software is it can hold far more data on the roast, it logs the full roast for drum and exhaust temperature and you can save every single roast to look back at later. Most importantly when you do a perfect roast with any coffee - you can bring back that roast profile for the next time you roast it - and then follow that past profile adjusting the drum temperature and exhaust setting to match it exactly - this makes it much easier to roast the coffee consistently.

IMG_6165.jpeg

Most of my technology issues were based around Artisan Scope needing a 64bit OS to run, the old office PC I wanted to use for it was 32bit. I'd purchased 2 x 2gb Ram Sticks for it and an Western Digital Green SSD to make it slightly less sluggish and the simple idea was install 64bit Windows 10. Only the installer just launched to a red screen with white lines, or if I rebuilt the installer as 32 or 64bit it came up with an error code which suggested the boot loader of the installer was corrupt. It was very strange, the motherboard of the pc is more then capable of 64bit, it had 7gb of Ram which the motherboard could see - but every 64 bit installer I tried failed to run - Windows 10 red screen and white lines, Windows 8.1 it just stuck at the 4 blue window panes forever - even Windows 7 64bit installer just crashed with the bootloader error. After creating over 20 different installer usb's (the Windows usb creator is useless it always finished saying it had installed the installer but failed to make it bootable - One job Windows make a usb installer BOOTABLE - what's the point of putting everything onto the usb but not making it bootable. Then I discovered Rufus which just shows open source is the way to go. But even with Rufus legacy Bios options 64 bit Windows would not install on this tower, and all I could think is maybe the CPU is the problem.

IMG_6129.jpeg

And then I thought, could FrankenPC take those 2 x 2gb Ram Sticks and handle a 64 bit installer. By random good fortune the Ram was compatible I just had to remove 1 x 1gb Ram stick and put the 2 x 2gb sticks in to give it a respectable 6gb Ram. Swapped out the old 60gb SSD with my new 100gb Western Digital Green SSD and plugged in a Windows 10 64bit installer USB - which booted no problem and installed a lovely fresh Windows 10 64bit in no time. Splicing 24 power cables onto a smaller motherboard socket plug was worth it after all!

And that meant I got Artisan Scope up and running just when a 100kg coffee order came in that meant I needed to use it. And I also used the new to me Destoner - it's quite a few years old and the filter bag had seen better days with frayed holes starting that had been stitched. So I asked the Mrs to stich some PLAIN cloth over the patched holes to make it look a bit more respectable. Plain - This is what I ended up with, always a flower @dswiggle

destonerlights.gif

So the destoner sucks up the roasted coffee beans and stores them inside it's silo - ready to be released into whatever container you like from the bottom back. The theory is the fan is designed to only suck the weight of coffee beans - so stones or other debris stay in a tray at the bottom, anything lighter then beans like chaff and dust is caught by my flower power filter bag.

So after the roasted coffee has cooled it is released from the cooling tray into the destoner hopper, and then sucked up and into the destoner silo. It's rare to get stones in the high grade speciality coffee I purchase - but even one stone is a grinder killer.

So this weekend I have not progressed with painting the warehouse, it's been full on production well over 150kg of coffee in total has been roasted to cover the 100kg order and other orders that have come in over the weekend. And Monday is already going to be bedlam - we won't clear all the orders that have come in over the weekend but I will try my best to get as many as I can packed and shipped.

And a #funkyedits to finish of a forest wonderland, whatever your #sublimesunday has been I hope it has been a good one.

Pretty genius rigging that up man. The Windows 10 boot. How often do you get stones where you have replace the bits and pieces it may have destroyed? Grinder bits 🤪

Sounds like a lot of work. But consistency equals excellence!

Good to see your coffee business is still going well even in these hard times i think people been more stressed need more coffee 😊
