A Friend In Need Is a Pest

20220806_193020.jpg

I have always heard the old adage: "A Friend In Need Is a Pest". Of course with many adages of old, I find them to have more than a small amount of truth. In fact I have known this to be one to be personally true.

Having the trailer to hold the wood furniture allowed us to put the heavy marble tops alone in the truck bed for easy and safe transport.

Now Ryan is indeed a friend. He also was in need. He basically needed to borrow a truck, my truck; and better yet a truck along with a trailer to carry some heavy vintage furniture he scored at an estate sale.

Old wood wheels that were at the bottom of the furniture.

Now since he met the two requirements of possibly being a pest, I have to say he was not a pest. Now his good natured personality is always a pleasure to be around. He can flawlessly make good conversation as we solve the world's problems.

Here I am single handedly holding down the heaviest headboard man has ever created! Do they insert lead into these?

We all know the most important part of any operation is the supervision. In other words, what is Tesla without Musk? When it is hot (90F) and humid and everyone is tired. I do my best to keep the boys working in a safe yet efficient manner :)

When you have a truck that is powered by a Cummins diesel and are pulling a big trailer, when you are getting some free fuel for helping a pal, you got to go where the big boys fuel up. Pro tip, always use the handy windshield washers there because they have good washer fluid and it can actually reach your windshield!

Ben and I are always willing to help out a buddy because we are of course very kind and generous guys. However, momma didn't raise a fool, we do demand some pay. Namely we must be well fed! To me A and W is always a good call!

Yeah I got the diet, but even it was good!

These extra long moving straps really make the heavy lifting much easier. The short ones are 20 bucks, these are 30 bucks and worth every penny!

Beautiful pieces! Victorians knew how to do it, didn't they? I have to wonder how they got it to their house without damaging it.

You are the popular guy with the truck! She's new, she can take it. As long as she gets fed, she is all good.

I buy diet A&W in the can on occasion and it is not the same as getting it from there. I have none close to me here, but there is one in Colonial Heights near Richmond. I think there are a few in West, by golly, Virginia, Not sure why they say it that way, but, they do.

Glad you could help him out. That was nice of you.

Well the people we got it from had money as they were in a nice part of Ann Arbor. I am sure they had it done.

Oh no are you saying I am going to have to do without White Castles and A and W?!? What do you people do for food down there, geez?

I hate to put miles on the truck, even when I am using it for me. I have over 10,000 on it now and I try to never drive it. 😕

Money doesn't mean you have it done. :) I have it done and I have no money.

You better get one when you fly by Columbus, Ohio, or stop in Kentucky! They are there, just less fast food here. Fast food means Texas Roadhouse or Chilis. :) You know I don't eat out much, so I don't miss it, but, you are moving to the most remote part of Virginia. But, around the campuses, there should be plenty to choose from. I do know they have a White Castle in Baltimore which is on my way to the shore, so all is not lost.

I do know what you mean. The pickings are slim here. Sorry.

Geez. You guys don’t mess around when it comes to getting paid. 😉

I had a pretty perfect burger yesterday at a river bbq of all places.

OMG that is a beauty! A real piece of art! Love it! Just curious do they do root beer there or is that only an American thing?

You can get it here, but for the most part, it isn’t popular. I love root beer, too, and so I’ve offered it to many people. Every person I’ve given it to, though, has cringed and said it tastes like medicine, which I can confirm it does.

In Japan, they have these powdered packets of medicine that you pour into your mouth and wash down. The medicine for an upset stomach tastes kind of similar to root beer. Funnily enough, though, that doesn’t make the medicine taste good. 😝

Funny I always find sodas that are cherry flavored taste like our cough syrup lol

I can see that.

A&W here is a came and gone and came and gone and came again story.
I heard story of a guy who said they used to go as a kid and eat there and steal their mugs.
Well, I guess the relatively new trucks got some mileage from this.

Oh yeah they have very heavy nice glass mugs. Only reason we got Styrofoam is we had to park down the street coz of having the trailer so they gave us take out cups.

That headboard is beautiful !

It's always good to have a friend or two that have trucks.... ha ha.... and if you have one, you will definitely have friends in need from time to time.

I had a diet A&W today at Moms and I had taken out burgers and hot dogs, loaded of course, from CookOut. Yum ! Yum ! I hadn't had a Root Beer in ages.

Nice of ya'll to help.

The root beer always tastes better there it seems. Ever notice that about ice cream at the ice cream shop as well? Wonder why that is? I hope it tasted good in the can/bottle that you had.

Well I guess I am wired to be a nice guy, or a sucker, I suppose. 🙂

Being wired to be nice is a good thing.

Mine was in a bottle and my Mom put it in the freezer after I got there because it was not cold. Forgot about it and later when she took it out, it was not frozen, but parts of it was and it was REALLY good because it was so frosty cold.
