For this week's #sublimesunday, as hosted by @c0ff33a, I needed a break from the weekend to get some alone time. It wasn't much, of course; just an hour, really, to wander around the local marsh in single-digit temperatures. Oddly, despite the cold, it was a very grounding experience.

Sundays typically carry a lot of anxiety for me. I don't know if it is the coming work week, or the thoughts of all the unknowns that might come at me, or whatever, but Sundays aren't much fun. I've been working on becoming more mindful of the late and living in the moment. Today's hike felt like it accomplished a bit of that for me.

The best part of the day was walking to the La Crosse River. I was hoping I could get a photo or two of any woodpeckers in the area, but I had no luck. I did see a bald eagle fly over me, but I had a difficult time zooming in on it with my fingers going numb. Still, the river was beautiful as the sun was beginning to set.

It was odd walking about with a sense of calm. It was almost zen like, I dare say. If I can make every Sunday like this, I'm all in...

Very beautiful environment, excess cold is as hard as it makes the world beautiful. Amazing photography
