An evening in Paris

in PhotoFeedlast year

It all started with a family event, organized not far away from the coast in Belgium. We went there with the kids, and we had a fun day at the amusement park. Until it closed, around 6pm.
Since it was quite a long drive for us to get there, and that we were now finally at the coastal area again, the kids asked us to go to the beach, to see the waves on the sea!
My wife and I looked at each other, and nodded, why not, we're here now, and don't have anything else to do. But we also still had to grab a bite. So what do you kids want to eat on this fun-family-day? Burger King! Of course :-D
Not really knowing the area in that much detail, I grabbed Apple Maps to check for the nearest Burger King. So guess where that was... Indeed, right across the border, in France! Not really a problem, since it was only a 20 minute drive, to Dunquerque. And since Dunquerque is also at the coast, we can go to the beach there!

Little did we know, that it would be quite hard to find the beach in Dunquerque, in the dark, with nothing but a GPS. We did come across some nice places there in the harbor of Dunquerque, such as this lighthouse.
But no beach...

So, you can imagine, the kids were disappointed of course. And since we already promised them Burger King, we couldn't use that to bribe them...
So we asked them what else they wanted to do? Walk around a bit in the nice city center of Dunquerque?
Nah...
Go home?
Of course not...
But, wait, why not... I mean... Like... Go to Paris? We're already in France!
That was my youngest speaking, my daughter. With her bright ideas...
So my wife and I looked at eachother, it was already 8pm in the meantime. So we nodded, well, why not! We're already halfway!
So on we drove, to Paris!

Long drive short: we had a fun time, in the car, anticipating the (really short) visit to Paris. We walked around a bit around Eifel Tower (which my daughter NEEDED to see), and we enjoyed the views, and the spontaneity of the evening. Around 2 am we decided to drive home again, and around 7 am, we were home and in our beds. But with quite a nice experience to cherish for the rest of our lives!
Adieu Paris, until we meet again (soon)!
