A couple of days it snowed during the night and so the colorful Autumn photos I had planned to take have got a bit of a wintry note.
Snowy Mountain : Foggy Valley
As usual I left home very early in the morning and drove towards the Nassfeld mountain pass where I have been a couple of times lately.
I didn't drive all the way up to the pass, but about half way up I took a few long exposure shots of this little lake before I went back down to the Run-of-river power plant where I have photographed a waterfall a few weeks ago (Photography Trips: Mountains and Waterfalls | Italy and Slovenia).

Of course, there was not so much snow in the lower regions and in the meantime it is all gone anyway, but somehow I liked the views up and down the valley.

It was quite cloudy and cold in the morning and light fog hovered over the brook.

Viewing down the valley the fog was quite dense at times. I took this photo standing about two or three feet too far to the right, so the tree with the orange leaves was to see in the photo. Of course, I have made a second photo after this one, which you can see at the end of this post.

Here's the view south to the Gailtal valley which is covered in fog. The tree from the photos above and below is on top of the rockface to the right.

A few minutes later and moving about 3 feet to the left resulted in a completely different tree photo from the one above. I kind of like that shot and think in the real winter I'll try to shoot this tree again.

That was all for today. After I have edited the other photos which I have made on that day I will make another post of this wintry Autumn day.

Mists swirling around on the floor of the valley slowly rising as the sun warms up to melt it away makes for stunning mood photography Johann.
The photo down through the stream with snow capped mountains in the background makes a delightful picture showing the russet colours of fall still very evident.
A wonderful way to start the day seeing gorgeous scenery from up North always!

Gorgeous landscape photos with the snow showing on the mountains and the fog adding a bit of mystery. Another interesting element os the different colored rocks that catch the eye.
The tree on the rockface and thick fog makes a unique photo. It’s doing good to keep standing straight. I hope you go back to check it out in winter.

it was still a bit too dark in the morning and because of the clouds for that photo, but I like the shots I have taken there - there are more of course ;)
Without the fog separating it from the background this tree on the rockface didn't look that good. I have taken photos of it before, but they weren't any good. I'll definitely go back there in Winter when all is White :)

We had a day of rain off and on but staying warm during the day for this time of year. The leaves are really starting to change now so everything looks colorful.

We have still nice and warm autumn weather.
I have had a quite stressful day at work and at the moment I am driving with my son to Styria to buy a new car because my Peugeot was too old to pay for the necessary repairs. I am glad that I have even got some money for it 😉
Hopefully we will find a car we both like 😂 lol
In Styria the cars are cheaper than in Carinthia.
I have my XYZ post complete, but we will come home late tonight, so I will post it tomorrow I think.

Beautiful shots! I normally love the trees and the skies... but this time I must say I love the rocks in the river! And the trees, of course.... and the mountains too! :)
Oh yes, the rocks are quite colorful. There's a gorge nearby where I want to hike next year - I think it's closed in winter, because it's too dangerous. In the photos of this gorge I could see many beautiful colored stones and rocks :)

Wonderful scenery! The fifth photo is just fantastic with snow capped mountains in the background. This place is like a fairy land!!
Fairies would not want to live here because there are many tourists around most of the time (winter sports like skiing and summer sports like hiking or biking).

Those snow covered mountain, and fog shrouded valley photos are always a pleasure to see. They give real depth and distance to a place. I like the little brook scenes, how you can see it is running low, and still see a smattering of yesterdays snow at the edges.

I think the first few small snowfalls are the best, they provide that hint of what is to come, but still leave that hint of what was. The left over speckled look is nice, a splotch here and one there, giving contrast to the scene.
I agree with what you a re saying and usually I am happy when I see the first snow, but I've been waiting all week long for nice and warm Autumn photos, so my first thoughts were 😥 but I love the snow and I'm looking forward to minimalist Winter scenes 😀
