THAT BOAT AND THE PEOPLE OF CHILE

At the meeting of the Rio Puelo and the Atlantic Ocean I found this boat parked on the shore, it seemed to belong to a fishermen who set out from this narrow fjord to the open sea to earn a living.
I only used it to portray a little the life of the Patagonian coast in the south of Chile, life of sacrifice, of the sea, of fishermen, of crystalline rivers, of exuberant mountains, of active volcanoes, with a lot of rain, of cold days and sometimes gray days, of firm customs and traditions, of the encounter between the native people and immigrants, a hard but beautiful life.
An alert life, of volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, but with a very united and fighting people, used to getting ahead and asserting themselves in any social, political or environmental circumstance.
This is how the Chilean people are, like my hand that holds this fishing boat, like the water that runs with force.

En el encuentro del Rio Puelo y el Océano Atlantico encontré este bote aparcado en la orilla, parecía ser de pescadores que parten desde este fiordo estrecho al mar abierto a ganarse la vida.
Solo lo utilice para retratar un poco la vida de la costa patagonica en el sur de Chile, vida de sacrificio, de mar, de pescadores, de ríos cristalinos, de montañas exuberantes, de volcanes activos, de mucha lluvia, de días fríos y aveces grises, de costumbres y tradiciones firmes, de encuentro entre el pueblo originario y los inmigrantes, una vida dura pero hermosa.
Una vida alerta, de erupciones volcánicas, de terremotos, de tsunamis, de deslizamientos, pero con un pueblo muy unido y luchador, acostumbrado a salir adelante y a hacerse valer ante cualquier circunstancia social, política o ambiental.
Así es el pueblo chileno como mi mano que sostiene este bote pesquero, como el agua que corre con fuerza.
