From our balcony on a 17th floor there is a perfect angle of 4 landmarks of Santiago de Chile.
Desde que nos mudamos a donde vivimos ahora, teníamos 8 meses esperando el día para poder tomar esta foto.
Háblame de paciencia
Desde nuestro balcón en un piso 17 hay un ángulo perfecto de 4 hitos de Santiago de Chile.
In the foreground, the Basilica of Lourdes, better known as Gruta de Lourdes, the cave (gruta) is just in front of the church. Located in Quinta Normal in the northwest of the metropolitan area. Its construction began in 1880, 140 years ago, its last expansion was in 1958, 62 years ago. All these years resisting climate, people and earthquakes, of course.
Then you can see a telecommunication tower, the Entel tower. It is in the heart of the city just a few steps from the presidential palace. It was completed in 1974 (46 years ago) and is 128 meters high and has 18 floors of living space that are mostly instrument rooms for its operation and also a lookout point.
A little further up at the base of the mountains, in the area of Peñalolén to the very east of the metropolitan region there is a small structure that looks like an egg, this is the Bahai (Bahá'í) Temple. This building was inaugurated in 2016 with an avant-garde architecture in design and construction. The Bahá'í Faith is a very young independent religion and this is the only specific temple of its followers in South America.
Of course, covering a large percentage of the scene and still being the protagonist of it, a small section of the Andes mountain range grows impossibly with a soft snow and reaching very low in its height due to the recent rain and low temperatures.
En primer plano, Basílica de Lourdes, mejor conocida como Gruta de Lourdes (de ehcho la gruta esta justo al frente), ubicada en la Comuna de Quinta Normal al noroeste de la zona metropolitana. Se empezó su construcción en 1880, hace 140 años, su última ampliación fue en 1958, hace 62 años. Todos estos años resistiendo clima, personas y sismos.
Luego se aprecia una torre de telecomunicaciones, la torre Entel. Está en pleno centro de la ciudad a solo unos pasos del palacio presidencial. Fue concluida en 1974 (hace 46 años) y tiene 128 metros de altura y 18 pisos habitables que son mayormente salas de instrumentos para su funcionamiento y también un mirador.
Un poco más allá en la base de las montañas, en el area de Peñalolén al este de la región metropolitana hay una pequeña estructura que parece un huevo, este es el Templo Bahai (Bahá’í). Edificación inaugurada a penas en 2016 con una arquitectura vanguardista en diseño y construcción. La Fe Bahá’í es una religion independiente sumamente jóven y este es el unico templo específico de sus seguidores en América del Sur.
Por supuesto, cubriendo gran porcentaje de la escena y aun así siendo protagonista de la misma, se crece imponentemente una pequeña sección de la cordillera de Los Andes con una nieve suave y llegando muy bajo en su altura debido a las recientes lluvia y bajas temperaturas.
We made an open shot of the 4 landmarks and also look out how far we could get with the camera focusing on the farthest building.
Hicimos un plano abierto de los 4 hitos y además experimentamos que tan lejos podíamos llegar con la cámara enfocandonos en la edificación más lejana.
The photos were taken with a Nikon Coolpix P520 with an integrated lens that goes up to 180mm, we took them in "landscape" mode so we don't have many camera settings to share other than a good composition, at the right time, of a very interesting city.
Las fotos las hicimos con una Nikon Coolpix P520 de lente integrado que llega hasta 180mm, las tomamos en modo "landscape" así que no tenemos muchos valores que compartir más que una buena composición, en el momento justo, de una ciudad muy interesante.
We had wanted to take this picture for so long because it is our daily view but we had not had the ideal environmental conditions to be able to take it. These clear conditions only come after rainfall, which serves to clean the city's polluted environment that sometimes is quite dense. Even so, here in the city it rains little and generally only between autumn and winter. Although there is no pollution, even so the rain does not ensure such good conditions, other times there are many clouds that cover the mountain, or low fog that covers the city.
Anyway, we finally made it and it was a SPECTACULAR event, so much so that it went a little viral on Instagram reaching almost 300,000 people in just one day. Wow!

Teníamos tanto tiempo queriendo tomar esta foto porque es nuestra vista diaria pero no habiamos tenido las condiciones ambientales ideales para poder tomarla. Estas condiciones tán despejadas solamente se dan luego de precipitaciones, que sirven para limpiar el ambiente de contaminación de la ciudad que algunas veces se aprecia bastante densa. Aun así, acá en la ciudad llueve poco y generalmente solo entre otoño e invierno. Aunque no hay contaminación, aun así la lluvia no asegura tan buenas condiciones, otras veces hay muchas nubes que tapan la montaña, o niebla baja que tapa la ciudad.
En fin, por fín lo logramos y quedó ESPECTACULAR, tanto que se hizo un poco viral en Instagram llegando a casi 300.000 personas en tan solo un día. ¡Wow!
