I do not really know about the rest of the world, but in my country, it is not difficult to see people lose their lives over illnesses that were not really terminal and could have easily been solved in the first place. And why is this? Because they chose to listen to their spiritual leader instead of going to see the doctor. Like someone will be seriously sick, and instead of them to be taken to the hospital, they will be taken to a church or a mosque for prayers. Believing a miracle will occur to save the person’s life. Why are humans so gullible in the name of religion? Why would people swallow just about anything just because some fraud coats it all up in religion? These days, a pastor is just about everything. A pastor also stands as a teacher, doctor, counselor, marriage coach, professional coach, is there anything I have not mentioned? And there are people who have become so hooked that they see spiritual leaders as people who can do absolutely no wrong. These days, we are hearing of men of God getting themselves into one scandal or the other, and people usually go bonkers. I am never surprised. It is as if because someone is a pastor then you forget that the person is also a human being and therefore he can also make mistakes. Or make stupid decisions as well. Many people use the “Pastor” label as a cover to carry out their clandestine acts. Smiling at people while harboring dark secrets in their minds. After all, it was last week that the viral video was seen of a pregnant woman who was cheating on her husband with her pastor. Apparently, the “Man of God” had wormed his way into her matrimonial bed by prophesying that she was destined to have issues at delivery, and the only way to solve that was by sleeping with the pastor. Yeah, how convenient. Well, it went awry, because midway her husband caught them. And the first thing he did was to whip out his phone and record the moment. I saw an update later on that the woman in question later committed suicide due to everything, not sure about this news though. Stories like this are not new to many of us. We have seen people lose great opportunities because they are listening to their men of God. Someone will lose out on a great job offer because his pastor had a bad dream regarding it, or someone will have to abandon marriage plans because the pastor does not like the partner. Personally, I feel that we are the ones that have given these people such power over our lives. That is why they can confidently say such things because they know that their words will be followed like the law. So, my dear friends, what am I saying in earnest? Am I saying that we should not follow the men of God? No. In as much as there are scammers among the lot of them, there are also genuine ones there. You might be lucky to have the true ones in your life, or you might just be with someone who plays on people’s emotions in return for cash. But, whoever they are, no man of God should have a final say in your life. They are good for advising and counseling, but it should end there. Trying to chart the course of your life, is a big no. I find it appalling when people give pastors things they won’t even give to their parents or spouses. If you hold the opinion of your pastor over the opinion of your husband or wife, then it shows that there is a major resetting that needs to be done in your head. We need to do more as a people, we need to take charge of our lives. While we worship, we should remember who we are actually worshipping, and not the messengers who are mere humans like us. These are people who make mistakes and also have flesh and bones like us. It will always get to the point where they will be looking out for themselves as well. I know it is not easy, and running the heavenly race requires a lot. But when we are doing things, we need to be clear about what we want. We need to make sure that we are doing what is right for our soul, and not just the whim of someone else. That is what is more important.
