in Hive Learners2 years ago

Hello Hive Learners, how are you today ?, i hope everyone is good and cheer up to new weeks of contest.

Edited from Logo Maker app

Week 30 has just ended and has been replaced with week 21. Last week there was a lot of fun and interesting topics to discuss and many participants took part in the contest the previous week. This week the fun will continue, where in this 31st week we will discuss topics that are no less interesting than the previous weeks and I think there will be more participants who will be willing to take part in the contest in this 31st week. As already announced, in this week 31 we will be discussing schools and science. Of course, these two things are in harmony, but there are many pros and cons regarding knowledge that can be obtained from various fields other than school, such as experience for example. Therefore, I will try to have an opinion on this discussion, therefore, listen carefully.

Knowledge is something that is needed by humans to live easier and more efficiently. The development of the times is evidence of human knowledge that has developed for centuries where this change and development is so fast that we don't even feel it and realize that we are in this modern era. Talking about knowledge, we cannot be separated from education and if we want to take education, we will immediately remember what is called school. Yes..., School is one of the places in the world that is used to learn and learn various kinds of knowledge that we need in everyday life.

All types of modernization that exist in this world cannot be separated from the school where it is where the inventors and scientists learn for the first time. Schools also have differences from the past, maybe now if we say school, then our thoughts will refer to a large and spacious building that students come to every morning whether wearing uniforms or not. If examined again, the school itself has the meaning of a place where we get knowledge, and everyone certainly gains knowledge in different places, of course. It goes back to the times, maybe a long time ago people got knowledge from various places, and now people get knowledge from places that provide knowledge, and that place is the School.

Source

Schools certainly provide useful knowledge for people who want to study there, and they will certainly be taught how to do this. Of course there is also a teacher who teaches him and the process is called teaching and learning. It is very common in conventional schools, but not with what has developed in the present. Changes in learning media and practicum make students understand the material being studied better and produce knowledge that can be absorbed well. Today's sophistication allows schools to provide a variety of practical tools and other more sophisticated teaching-learning support tools. The peak is when we use Google and the efficiency of Google and the features in it to support the teaching and learning process becomes easier. Until in the end, Google can be used as the same medium when we study in class with a teacher, although it is not completely replaced.

So the question that arises is, "Can we gain knowledge without having to go through the teaching and learning process with a teacher at school...?".
There are two answers to this question, it can be "yes" and it can be "no". It refers to the function of a teacher at school, where there are some tasks that cannot be replaced by other things even though they offer the same knowledge as what a teacher teaches. If you see, there is a lot of knowledge if you open Google, there are hundreds or even thousands of articles and bloggers who provide useful knowledge there that are ready to be read and understood without having to bother leaving the house. You can also access it anywhere as long as you have an internet connection, and can't this really replace schools that have always used the concept of face-to-face learning...?

Source

It can indeed be done, but as we know, not everyone wants to read educational articles or search for other useful knowledge on Google. This is indeed natural, because they do not have pressure and use the Google search tool freely, and because Google can find various things, in the end they prefer to find what they like rather than use it to seek knowledge that they do not know. And this is the first problem that will arise when we seek knowledge not from education at school. Every human being does not want to be restrained to seek knowledge, and they prefer freedom, especially children whose thoughts are still about games and fun. Therefore, learning media for children is learning while playing.
But from here the second problem arises, will every child want to learn while playing or just want to play...?

Source

Children of course will not choose to learn while playing, and they will choose to just play, and this is where the purpose of a teacher is first, which is to direct them to keep learning even though they are playing.
Media such as Google or the like will not be able to direct children to be able to direct every child who has different characters in responding to games and learning. Of course what Google and other applications like it can do is adapt it to their own program and this would be a mistake if not supervised by a teacher.

Maybe, only teenager and adults who want to open Google and search for the knowledge they need because they already know the importance of science and their soul is no longer a child's soul and moreover they are already independent.
From this, a second problem arises, can a teenager or an adult can learn without a teacher at school because they can already seek knowledge according to their needs...?

Source

Of course, the function of the teacher for children, adolescents, and adults is very different even though the things they learn are the same lessons. In children, a teacher may be able to use toy or animation media to support their teaching and learning process, in adolescents it will be different where a teacher will act as their parent, develop the potential that exists in them, and also become more mature to be a guide for students. them during the teaching and learning process.
Of course this is not on Google and learning intake for students is a lot of theory for them to read and this is certainly the wrong thing if we look at and want to educate a teenager. We may be able to use Google to feed them knowledge, but there is still something we have to do so that knowledge can be absorbed by them.

Of course the pros and cons arise when looking at students in universities and their teaching and learning system. At school, a teacher plays 70% role in imparting knowledge and students have 30% for them to get their own knowledge either from the things they live in everyday or from other things. While in college, students are required to get 70% of knowledge from himself a lecturer will provide 30% of his knowledge through direction and also practicum. This is clearly different from the teaching and learning practices we get in school and it's really something that makes someone say college is harder than school. Actually there is no difference between the two, only the teaching and learning methods are reversed.

Source

So, will these two teaching and learning processes affect the knowledge gained by students, and are these two systems even better than those who do not go through the school system to gain knowledge...? This is the next problem that arises from this discussion.

This actually cannot be done completely although in theory it can be done. This is because the role of a teacher that we discussed earlier and also relates to the desire of the student to learn. Apart from the way we get knowledge, which nowadays can be achieved in an easier way, at school we are also taught the meaning of discipline and time management which of course will be difficult for us to get if we do it ourselves. The system implemented in schools will make us more disciplined by attending school in the morning and afternoon or even in the afternoon we can only go home. This refers to attitude education which later if we work all day long, we will get used to it and this also trains us for it. The existence of a curriculum in schools allows us to focus on what we are going to learn and this allows us to determine what knowledge intake is needed for us and this is what distinguishes elementary, middle, and high schools, and all three are different from colleges.

Source

The conclusion is, if we want to get knowledge, we can get it from anywhere as long as we want to do it, even our parents first teach us about good or bad things before we go to school. However, learning that is more complex and targeted will only be obtained in schools with a teaching and learning system, the curriculum allows us to get learning according to our level, train discipline and even some schools teach religious lessons and this makes it a little more complex. And the most important thing is the existence of a diploma that proves that we have undergone a period of education where the diploma is very valuable until now.

It is an interesting Dilemma! On the one hand, the community and resources that a "School" provides are an advantage but on the other, I have the impression kids are just going through a "program" without much opportunity to exploit their whole potential. Much to think about! Thanks for sharing!

Yup, that was right buddy, there is always negative and positive thinks in this case.

I think Homeschooling is a great alternative and in many regards a better option. Too bad it's not allowed in every country.

Yup, Yes, homeschooling has the same concept as regular schools, only the process is carried out at home, and it's true that not all countries are popular with this.

On the contrary, Homeschooling focuses on the individual, and his/her potential and strengths - not on a program. It is not easy and it's not for every family but I think it should be an available option for those who would like to adopt it.

Even if adults and teenagers know that they have to seek knowledge and they don't have to involve in unnecessary activities on the internet, how often are they not distracted?
There is a huge amount of distraction causing elements on the internet and they do their job quite expertly i.e. getting the attention of their target. I feel like most of us would be distracted from our goals if we go without a school.

Yes you are right, that's why sometimes we need education in schools even though we can seek more knowledge from the internet, and the big problem is the willingness and drive to learn.

What a lovely write up you have here.
School is not a scam but it doesn’t determine a person’s intellectual ability

Thanks for reading mate, and thanks for the comment either. 👍

I a gree with you. because by going to school, our intelligence is more focused than when we don't go to school.

Yup, that was right.
Thanks for the comment buddy.

You're welcome bro

What I believe is that knowledge is unlimited. Where your knowledge ends is where someone’s knowledge begin. We continue to learn till our graves. The more we learn the more intelligent we grow.

Yes, this is true on the one hand, but on the other hand there are not many people who want to learn without any pressure or independently and this becomes a problem. What is happening today is where the use of the internet by children and adolescents is 80% for fun and social media, only 20% of them use it for study and study, and even then when they have to do homework that is difficult to complete. And this number is really sad, even in my own country this number really doesn't change every year.

It's just that the school system these days do not equip students for the present. They keep using old methods that no longer have any effect in the modern world. That is not good for developing intelligence.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

Yes you're right. Only a few elite schools use modern equipment for their teaching and learning process.
Thanks for the comment Capt.
