I have had my own share of bullying. I was ashamed, nervous and very insecure at that time. I didn't know it was me being bullied until I opened up and told my lecturer who explained the term "bullying" to me and helped me pass through the stage.

My own was a case of cyber bullying. I had just gotten into the university and opened a Facebook page. I posted a picture and was getting beautiful comments which made me happy. My happiness was short-lived when a random guy commented and said that I looked like a firewood that was decaying. I didn't know what that meant. But from my own understanding, it didn't mean something nice. I ignored the comment but deep down in me, I knew I wasn't happy at the comment.
I posted another picture weeks later and this same guy commented and called me an old cargo. This time, it dawned on me that this random follower was out to bully me. I remember how I went to the mirror that day to look at myself and reevaluate myself. I asked my room mate at that time if there was anything wrong with the dress I wore and she said I was okay.
If I was okay, then why would someone call me a firewood that was decaying.
That statement made me emotional for another couple of days. I thought about a lot of things including my age. I thought since my age was put out on social media, then it meant I was old. I mean an old firewood could mean an old woman. I was beginning to loose myself and my motivation towards a lot of things. School work wasn't interesting to me anymore. In fact, nothing made me happy. I lost my confidence and didn't know what else to do at that time.
My lecturer called me one day to his office and asked if I was okay because I failed a simple test and everyone passed except me. He knew there was something wrong and after much persuasion, I told him what happened. He was really upset with me because he expected me to have handled the matter without any worries.
But I didn't know what to do. He told me to block the fellow which I did. And since then till date, whenever anyone stresses me, I just tap the block option and voilà, you are gone. To even think that this fellow made me feel worthless and develop negative energy around myself all the time. I should have known better that the block option was there to help people like me who let things affect us easily at that time.
I am grateful I got over that negative feeling. I see a lot of people insult and humiliate people online not knowing the effect it has on the persons they bully.

Cyber bullying is worse because you don't even get to see the person physically to even retaliate. These days it is becoming really terrible because anyone can afford data and hide in the comfort of their homes to bully people without thinking of the mental health of the persons they are bullying.
Anyway, anyone who tries to take my peace of mind away, the block button will fight for me. So here is me saying that whoever feels threatened by anyone, the solution is unfriend, unfollow, block and even report the person. Facebook do not tolerate bullying. So be rest assured that your battle will be taken care of. I think this is a good step to eradicate cyber bullying.
Apart from that, if you notice that your peace of mind is gradually going away, you can leave social media for a while and come back when you are mentally okay.

Bullying exist everywhere and it could happen to anybody. I'm sorry that you have to experience cyber bullying, but hey as you pointed out... unfriend, unfollow, block and REPORT!. Thank you for sharing your experience, this should also teach all of us a valuable lesson not to easily accept friends on social media and most importantly... not to disclose any sensitive information or pictures. 🙏

A girl I k ew told me she will not come to Facebook for a while, just because of some insult she has received from her followers. Truly she left Facebook and also left WhatsApp.
Ever since then she did not come back to social media again. This was because of the Cyber bullying.
The solution is what you just said.

One of the most dangerous cases today is cyber bullying, until there are cases of suicide because of this incident. so we have to campaign together to minimize this to avoid negative things that will happen in the future.
A lot of persons do not know how traumatic it is to be bullied online. Because you don't even know or see these bullies, it makes it worse. We must sensitize the people more on the effect of cover bullying .

Sorry you had to experience that @joydukeson some people can be real assholes it is as simple as that unfortunately and the internet allows these sad individuals to hide behind a persona.
There is no excuses that can be given for these actions and we should just block and ignore these people the best we can.
You seem like a gentile soul in persnality and from your picture i believe you are both beautiful on the outside and inside just a simple observation from this post alone.

This is what i tell my wife when people upset her or are mean, they are not worth a second of your time, there are billions of people on this planet there will be muppets that don't matter.

Cyber bully can be even more damaging than physical or verbal bullying. There is case where a mother try by impersonate a youngster and develop online relationship with a daughter's classmate to eventually shame her.
I agree with you that cyber bullying is worse. People can hide in their phones and do all manner of things.

It seems incredible, how situations like these can steal our peace. I was very surprised when I read about your exam. Other people may not see that this is so important, but it is, and what happened to you proves it. That is why it is always good to be able to tell someone what happens to us. The reason why a lot of persons go into depression and never come out of it is because they don't have good people to talk to. By good people I mean people who won't mock, laugh or use it against you. But good people who will guide you truly because they understand your pain too. Sorry you had to endure such behavior. I love the block button on any platform, the block option is my best friend. I'm glad you learned to block that person cause that's what I would recommend. FB has many options for seeing what you want/ Although I don't use FB as much as I used to, it is a great feature to have at your disposal.

I am grateful too for the blog button. I think of all the social platforms, FB has more of nuisances. Because I am baffled at how someone who doesn't know you and haven't spoken to you before will comfortably call you on a video call. I find it irritating. I always think that cyber bullies (or bullies) are cowards, have no self-confidence or life. I'm sure most of them wouldn't even dare to say these ugly things face to face. It is quite pointless to bully a person you've never ever seen but I guess it's easier if you hide your face. Since they don't know the people they bullied, they don't know how their actions can affect them. I see people committing suicide just because of this. It's really heart breaking. We have to learn to be kinder. Bullying is disgusting!
I find it really disgusting to. Bullying is a NO NO for me. Bullies do not even know the implication of what they do. A lot of them feel it is just having fun but it is not. I am glad that the block button is there to help people too.
