Technology

Today has been a hectic day for me. I know it’s a Sunday and I should be resting but unfortunately I found myself trying to settle some personal stuff that I know I won’t be able to handle during the weekdays and it has been raining all day, so all of that kept me busy throughout the whole day. I barely even touched my phone which is very rare because everything I do online is with my phone even though I have a laptop.

Well, after the days work, I decided to go visit a friend to play a little bit of video game. It was dark already so I just wanted to have some few minutes of good time before retiring for the night. We started the game (soccer) and he started giving me the ass whooping of my life. The first two tournament was brutal and immediately my mood changed, I got upset as if someone had offended me.

I requested for a third game and then I won that one, we played another and I won again, meaning we now have a 2-2 tie and that was when I noticed I was started to get out of my sour mood and was turning back into a happy man. We played the fifth game and I won again, making it 2-3 and that was when I noticed my friend was no longer smiling, he was now the one pissed.

I asked him if he was upset and that seemed to get him more upset. He ended up not playing anymore after I won the next one and then I left, told him it was getting late and I needed to start going. Usually he would have escorted me but instead he just said good bye and I left.

On my way home, I started to wonder why that was the case though. Why do we allow something as little and silly as a video game control our emotions to the extent that it gets to tell us when to be happy and when to be sad.

There have always been cartoons and movies about technology taking over the world and we just see them as movies probably because we think by them taking over the world, there would be some kind of war first. But the truth is, allowing them control our emotions like this is already a huge thing.

But then what do I know, this might just be the fatigue in my body speaking as I’m so tired and can’t wait to collapse on my bed. So maybe I’m going a little bit kuku, let’s just hope I’m wrong.

It's very common as I could relate the game between you and your friend to life's reality. Many people seem to be over joyous when they meet with success or something good happens to them but when they are hit with life's challenges, they become sober and feel bad.
Life is more than that because, in everything, we should be positive and happy. We can't expect to be happy every moment, there would be time to reflect on things, especially when we are going through a tough time and that requires introspection.

I understand how your friend felt, you felt the same way initially when you were on the losing end though I don't think yours was as intense as your friend's. Not many people are okay with not winning but like you said we shouldn't let petty things as this affect us so badly.

I don't think technology should be blamed for something like this because there are good impacts which technology has created. How we let it affect us is our own doing. Well, I may be wrong, who knows if it's because I'm just waking up and my brain is still booting.

Lol. I think you're right about what you said and your brain is on the right track.
