The Ancestors Called Me

in Hive Learners2 years ago

Hey guys, I need y’all help.

First of all before I begin, I will just like to put it out there that that bullshit research that says humans can last between 8 - 21 days without food is a big fat lie, I’m a living witness to that. Ten hours without food and I was already heading a meeting between myself and my ancestors.

Well just in case you all are wondering, yes, this is a food post.

You see guys I have a problem, one that didn't look like a big deal at first but after what I went through today, I’ve started to reconsider.

Those of you who aren’t new to my blog know how much of a terrible cook I am so I always try to avoid the kitchen while carrying out some occasional experiments every now and then. Anyways, I and some of the guys kind of found a temporary solution to our cooking problem.

We made a deal with the ladies. They help us cook and we give them some of the food. It’s like trade by barter of the olden days. So for now, I pretty much have the cooking part covered but one thing I never really thought would be a huge task for me was deciding what to eat.

I got up around 7am today with a hungry stomach and waited a bit for the ladies to wake up before approaching one of them (a good friend of mine) to ask her to help me cook. She immediately agreed, but the question she asked me next took me more than ten hours to give a reasonable reply.

“What will you like me to cook for you?” She had asked.

That very simple question took me the whole day to answer. The annoying thing was that she even gave me some suggestions after she realized I couldn’t make up my mind on one and yet, I still said no to everything she had suggested. I had later settled for tea because I was getting late for school. I felt tea and some bread would be enough till I returned from school with my mind made up on what to eat but I had been wrong.

I almost died.

I had left with no money on me and didn’t get home until it was past five in the evening and by the time I got back, I was ready to eat an elephant. I knew there was no way I would be able to wait for anyone to start cooking anything so I immediately took some money and went to an eatery to save my life.

And now I need y’all help to prevent this from repeating itself again.

Please, what kind of food do you people cook at home?

When I was a student, we had a similar deal with neighbor guys - they buy ingredients, and I cook. And eat 😆 Thanks goodness it happaned rarely.

I love to cook. Yesterday I prepared a cherry pie, fish soup and humus today 😊

I'm also trying to learn how to enjoy cooking. For now it's all just stress for me even though I've got no clue about what I'm doing.

I remember the last time I tried following instructions on YouTube to cook.. Total disaster. 😂

Probably, you need to try simple recipes first 😉

Yeah I’m working on it.. Hopefully, I don’t burn down my kitchen before I get it right 😅

Haha...The kitchen wars.

I too like to avoid the kitchen drama. I do not fancy cooking. But do love a well cooked and presented food, lol.

I do not have many ladies around to cling on to for cooking, so I do them myself most times.

I'd suggest foods like yam and plantain. They're quite straight forward to prepare and go well with eggs.

Since they are not heavy foods, they do not take time to prepare and can do for breakfasts.

I can imagine how insufficient bread and tea would be for a whole day in school.

Yam is a really good suggestion but plantain?

Plantain currently is scarce, making it very expensive to buy. So unless I plan on starting a plantain farm soon, I will just take the yam suggestion and leave the plantain for later. 😂

When I am hungry, I usually have this serious headache and my eyes start to turn red according to my friend 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣and I also start to shake Omo! Hungry is not a friend at all I can relate.
So I have a food menu I prepared to help me decide on what to eat and cook.
That can help

My body also shakes when I’m extremely hungry. 😂

The food menu sounds like a good idea, I will try to come up with something.

Thanks.
