Friendships in the Internet Age: Redefining What’s ‘Real’

in Hive Learners3 days ago

In life we always meet new people and it is no longer only limited to the people we meet in real life, it could be also from online. It was not this easy before but internet has made it possible, now it's very easier to connect with people from other countries, and from my personal experience I would say friendships have become just as common as real-life ones.

There are certain people from our time of 90s who still believes that online friendships can never replace real life bonds, but I can't completely agree with this kind of thought. I personally feel both online and offline friendships is equally meaningful and it totally depends on the person who is involved in the friendship and if they know how to maintain their connection then that friendship lasts longer.

My daughter's friends are all from online they have started through shared interest in a game such as pubgm or codm, some are from social media which could be Facebook as it's very popular in our country, or it could be a hobby community as well. I feel when you have similar choices with someone else then that helps to connect over something they love and gradually they get connected to each other through conversations and it comes naturally it is not calculated, it just happens with the flow.

With friends you can always talk freely and share everything, they even know about our personal experiences and they support each other emotionally. Sometimes, people when they are online they can comfortably open up with others because they don’t feel judged. In the past 51 years I have seen countless friendships formed this way they are genuine and makes friendship more valuable. Even if you have never met someone in real life, then still you guys can stay friends deeply and own same amount of care for each other and always stand beside during hard times.

On the other hand, I also believe real life friendship holds a different place in the heart. The real friends will laugh together. There will be plenty of memories and moments that will make the bond feel more personal. Anyway, both online and offline friendships can be real they have great values, so yeah it depends on the people who choose to make it that way.

It would be very unfair if I say real friends or online friends can replace each other. That is not completely wrong even to think about it. They are my friends why would I judge them or compare them with each other? They are all individual and they are not supposed to be the same. In life we will always find bad friend and good friends so let's not compare each other. It would be rude and I'm sure when my friends will find that I'm doing things like this like comparing them which is not a good thing. In conclusions both are good at their own places.
