Welcome to the second session of the August edition of the Hive Bootcamp.

In this session, we focused on communities, niches, and front ends and tags.

A few of the reasons why this bootcamp exists now are that many newbies fail to comprehend the essence of communities on Hive, the necessity of understanding what niches are and where they fit in, and the functions of frontends and how they work.

In this session, we laid out the purpose for which communities exist; the different types of communities and how they work; a few of the different niches users create content for; and how to use the frontends.

The outline for the video is:

  • Finding your niche.

  • Finding the right communities

  • Hive dApps/Frontends.

  • Proper use of tags and their importance.

Niches are basically topics, general ideas that people create topics around. The essence of understanding this and how to utilise the understanding in communities is that it helps one develop a style of content creation that adapts to the concepts upon which communities are created.

Communities are segregated spaces that help facilitate the collection and bring together like-minded people as well as communication between people. Unlike other social media platforms, Hive is an environment where you do not just have niches colliding into one another, but rather they have their own spaces that help foster their co-existence.

Frontends/dApps are fundamentally screens from which we explore the Hive environment. There are several frontends like PeakD.com, Ecency.com, Leofinance.io, and Liketu.com, to name a few. They all share the same database, which contains every piece of information that exists on the HIve blockchain. The only difference between them is that they only display the information differently, have their own tokens, and some may be particular to some communities. For example, Leofinance.io is a frontend that belongs to the community, Leofinance. But it can also access other information about Hive.

Having these different frontends/dApps does not imply that one would need to have different accounts, but that they all share the same log-in data. Hence, one account can access them all.

“You can't thrive in isolation.....” this caught my attention and it has a great meaning on Hive. If you are alone, you cannot grow. A newbie who just want to focus being alone and keep posting will never thrive unless he or she is part of a community that shares similar idea and interest. That is the power of networking.

There is a great need to be able to formulate a clear and concise comment if you want to make friends through reaching out to their posts. Unnecessary comments doesn't count and it's tag as spamming.

This was a really great video lesson about Hive, niches, the right community, frontends and use of tags.

You're absolutely right, we have to make meaningful comments on others post and it will be a lot easier when the post is something that resonates well with you.

That is the way my sister.

Yes oo, I'm so happy we already know these things now 🥰.

I've always been a little confused seeing other related sites all linked to Hive, I haven't particularly tried it but from this message I have seen the clear difference.. We do need support and guidance as we thrive to be better, thanks for starting something great like this..

Is there any benefit for using any of these Frontends? And why are there different Frontends?
