I think giving them privacy can be a way for them to start learning how to be independent and solve some issues by themselves through their own understanding, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and they go ask for help. As children, it can get really frustrating to have parents behind our shoulders all the time, it tilts the experience in a way that you're no longer doing things for yourself but for other people.
