Mule Deer In the city of Penticton BC

in Canada3 years ago

These Mule deer walk around in the city. They seem to own the place. They walk and look at you - take note when they see you.
I went for a walk in the afternoon and came across the family resting eating waiting and walking around. I almost missed them as they were still and silent.

They were not concerned with me. Although i have always been a friend of the nature and they don't seem to mind me watching them as much as they watch me.

Perhaps too close. But this is not the first time i have been closer to them. It is the first time i had a camera with me. The first time i was walking late at night in the snow drifting down and they came out of a property from my left, i kept walking. They kept walking as well and we crossed paths. They walk i walk and none of us seemed to mind that a pack of animals and a lone walking animal would care to bother to watch each other, no threats of energy from either side. We just looked at each other and passed in the snow tracks of the night.

They are aware of my presence and notice me fumbling with the camera. I can feel the bit of tension rise. I do not want to disturbed them in their state of feeding.

Great pictures! Yeah we have deer everywhere here too.
At least we dont have hippos or kangaroos to worry about.

Haahaa haa yes having hippos or kangaroos around would be worse...giraffes would be a fun obstacle course.

Man you are making me miss the Okanagan!

Why did you leave such an amazing area? Don't keep looing at the post ill be potting in the next days...they will make you go back there even more.

Yeah I was in Kelowna for 12 years. Me and my wife had a baby and couldn't afford to live there with a kid. Plus we are from the prairies originally and all our family is here. I'll be back living in BC again one day. The Kootneys this time for sure!

Yea, that town went really expensive and kind of douch bagish. The Kortney's are really nice though, more laid back. Perhaps in time you will find the perfect right place to be.
