If you are just starting, you can not earn from curation so the only way to earn is from creating content both posts and comments. Explore what is on Hive because there are so many communities that if you just start and stay in the one that first caught your eye, you might miss out on so much.

Hive is very big and not so easy to view in it's totallity. Trying to explore is definitely a good way to find your path.
