Nickerie is one of the ten districts of Suriname, this district is known for the famous rice fields. The first Place to live in Nickerie was Paradise, a forsake platage back then. This place was for the british-indian contracters, whose contract ended, to provide them for agriculture. Back then the business of "Balata" was very popular and the people who went to the jungle to harvest balata, brought rice there to eat. The british-indian people may not go to the jungle to harvest balata because the government reserved them for practicing agriculture. And that's how the rice industry/rice cultivation started in this beloved district!

The scenario is very much similar to the images of the rural areas of Bangladesh. I am very much familiar with the things, although now far away from it.

Hello my dearest friend @raishmi, The content you present today is well presented in the history story of agriculture in the area where you live. In general, the younger generation should be well aware of our history. Without it, a better future cannot be created for the youth. The paddy fields are well cultivated and are a sight to behold. Especially when the paddy fields are green, the whole environment is green. By the time it is harvested, it turns yellow. The way the color combination of nature is presented by these paddy fields is amazing.

@raishmi - The sunset in the rice field is really beautiful moment to enjoy. I really love this kind of feeling. Different place of rice field has its own charming and not the same. My grandparent was a farmer. But they didn't pursue my parent to follow their career path as earning less, hard working and not well respected from the society. So my grandparent had put all efforts toward the education for my parent.
So I grew up as a city boy and a bit materialism. When I was young once the semester end. My parent sent me to stay with my parent as no one took care of me during the day time. My childhood experiences was not bold and bonding to any agriculture things that much. Later I realized that self sustainable is the way to survive in any circumstances. And those things are what I saw my grandparent lived life in a self sustainable way.

It is true that the farmers are not well respected from the society. I grew up in the city but on a farm. So our farm was middle in the city. I loved both but the farm-life was still my favorite. But due to circumstances I had to leave that place :(
I have always respected the farmers!
I totally agree with you, self sustainable is the way to survive in any circumstances.
