I noticed recently that every Wednesday the weather changes so that I'd like to pun on my winter coat and go outside. If I had a gloomy week, sun came out of the clouds on Wednesday. If it was sunny for a few last days, heavy white clouds appear from somewhere and large white snowflakes begin to swirl in the air. Just like this morning. But I was late, the snow stopped and the sun shines again.🙂
Останнім часом я помітила, що кожної середи погода міняється таким чином, що хочеться вийти на прогулянку. Якщо весь тиждень було хмарно, то в середу світить сонце. Якщо кілька днів підряд світило сонце, то у середу звідкість налітають важкі хмари, і в повітрі починають кружляти сніжинки. Ось як сьогодні. На жаль я запізнилась, сніг перестав і сонце знову світить.
But I still have something to share. It is a building that I was going to tell you about long ago. Its look is absolutely unique and very beautiful. And every time I pass by it stands in a shadow. Bad light and all that boring stuff. Who cares. I still want to show it to you!
Але я все одно маю чим поділитись. Це будівля, яку я давно хочу вам показати, вона унікальна і дуже гарна. Але кожного разу, коли я йду повз, вона знаходиться в тіні. Погане світло і все таке, але кому є до того діло. Давайте подивимось!
People call it "House with Cats". This is a green building with white trim built in 1909. Its author is Kyiv architect and engineer Volodymyr Bessmertny (surname means Immortal in Ukrainian 😀). The house is designed in Art Nouveau style with elements of Gothic and Neo-Gothic.
But its main feature is that it is completely asymmetric. And they also say that the layout of the apartments is very inconvenient. Such is the price of external attractiveness.
Люди назвали його "Будинок з Котами". Це зелена будівля збудована в 1909 році. Її автор київський архітектор і інженер Володимир Безсмертний. Будинок побудований у стилі модерн з елементами готики. Але особливістю є те, що він повністю асиметричний. А ще кажуть, що планування квартир дуже незручне. Ось вона, ціна зовнішньої привабливості.
The owner of the house, a retired colonel, a participant in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878, Ferdinand Yagimovsky, initially planned to use the building as a profitable building and therefore sought to stand out from other homeowners. So I ordered such an unusual facade.
Власник будинку, полковник у відставці і учасник російсько-турецької війни 1877-1878 Фердінанд Ягімовський планував використовувати бюдівлю як прибутковий дім (здавати квартири в оренду). Ось чому він намагався виділитись серед інших домовласників і замовив такий незвичний фасад.
Its facade is decorated with the image of cats with big eyes. Initially, these cats had green eyes and a red mouth. Animals seem to be sitting and guarding the window on the ground floor.
Фасад прикрашений зображеннями котів з великими очима. Спочатку їх очі були зелені, а роти червоні. Тварини наче сидять і охороняють вілике вікно на першому поверсі.
Among the unique plastic decoration are images of numerous chimeras and male masquerades. There are a few quite distinct balconies.
Серед своєрідного оздоблення містяться зображення химер та чоловічих маскаронів.
The entrance to the house is decorated with figures of owls. They are so cute!
Вхід охдоблений фігурами сов. Які ж вони милі!
It was believed that owls are a symbol of wisdom, and cats protect the comfort and well-being of the house from the evil intentions of the devil, whose figure crowns the architectural composition of the house. That's all I could get from my camera.
Вважалося, що сови символізують мудрість, а коти захищають добробут і затишок в домі від поганих намірів диявола (чи чорта), який сидить на даху. Це все, на що спромігся мій фотоапарат.
And these, it seems, are griffins holding a coat of arms. Such images are common. This is the coat of arms of the owner of the house.
А це, здається, грифони, які тримають герб. Таке часто зображають. Це герб власника будинку.
Down the street, there is another old house that is waiting for rennovation. It is decorated with huge street art on the side wall. Again, in a shadow. But it is well preserved.
Нижче по вулиці є ще один старовинний будинок, який чекає на реконструкцію. На його бічній стіні є великий мурал. І знову в тіні. Зате добре зберігся.

Та там і планування кажуть не дуже ))) Хоча отой кутовий балкон на останньому поверсі, що на перший двох фото, дуже гарний! А коти трохи моторошні, особливо як уявлю їх з червоним ротом 😬😬😬
