Here are a few random sightings for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay
Big giant bumble bee on echinacea. I must have seen at least three types of bumblebees.
Trying to pet chickens at the farm. These were poults of Jersey Giants, we'll come back to see how big they get.
Piglets everywhere at the farm. The poor mother was getting stepped on, though she did almost bite one that got near her head.
Baby cow that liked getting scratches. My daughter was even able to feed it a leaf.
Unexpected moth find.
I looked it up and it is a leopard moth. Sadly I didn't get a look at its thorax underneath the wings. It has bright blue and orange underneath. You can only see a bit of blue on the antennae.
Never buy a hamburger from a Mexican restaurant lol. This thing was smashed flat.
Cows and chickens coexisting together. Chickens better watch out they don't get stepped on and turned into a smashed burger.
Retro VW surfer van. Time to paint some groovy flowers on the side of it.
Final chore of the weekend, putting together some picnic benches for the church. I was a bit disoriented
Carpenter's square, clamp, two adults! this doesn't sound good lol Love the pattern on the moth. Big sows sometimes have err... accidents with piglets. Farmers used to put them in stalls that severly restricted their movement but the piglets could get in and out. Not to humane but it did protect the piglets.
I put the seats in upside down on that table at first but finally noticed a slight angle on it in the isometric before bolting it together. Thankfully I had help and took a trip to get the c-clamp but it wasn't even needed, maybe for an OCD carpenter of sorts. The piglets were quite wild, its no wonder they take over a place when they become feral.
Assembly is always trial and error for me 🙄 I recently did a repair on my John Deere mower. Since its a John Deere and kind of expensive, I was committed to doing it properly. I noticed the washers on the bottom of the mower blades were different when I put the two blades back on. I didn't think anything of it until I had it almost all back together and found another washer that matched one of the ones on the mower blades. I took it back apart and used the right washers. Not the kind of thing I would usually do but those damn green lawn mowers are so expensive I really baby mine because I want it to last forever. Or at least out last me lol
Better than having a blade fly across the yard. Or get caught breaking nebulous right to repair clauses.
Funny you should mention that... my mower has this cheesy little led display that shows engine hours and fuel level. It quit working which I guess is pretty common. It has a little flat battery that is usually the culprit but the factory puts the battery in and then glues the assembly together so you can't just change the battery. So when the $1 battery fails you have to buy a new $90 display 🫨 thats old school "if you break this seal" kind of bs
Yeah lots of farm/automotive/construction equipment is like that. I had an old 80s era guitar effect rack that had a strange battery like that where it goes bad you have to open it up and desolder a coin battery off the chipboard and resolder a new one on. Then of course the warranty says you have to send it back to the factory lol. But if the company is defunct then you have to do it yourself.
