Frosty weather has one non-obvious property. A thermometer reading is not enough to assess how cold it is outside. Subjective perception can vary within a very wide range. A little higher or lower humidity, a little stronger or weaker wind, and suddenly it turns out that -8°C is colder than -12°C.
It was just such a day. I saw the -12°C number on the thermometer and thought that my walk would be limited to a couple of neighboring streets, that it would be a short foray outside for a little fresh air. I reached the Fontanka River embankment and wanted to turn back, toward home, but realized that I was not cold at all. It was a quiet, windless day, and I felt comfortable. So my plans changed in the most drastic way possible. I continued my stroll along the embankment, and then turned toward Catherinehof Park.
The park was sparsely populated on this frosty morning. I met only one skier, one gardener, and a few strollers. All the pictures taken in the park are in color, though it's not always obvious. If it weren't for the red posts by the bridge or the red mittens, these pictures would be hard to distinguish from black and white.

Nice! I love the cold weather when there is no wind, when your body heat is plenty to keep you warm. The red makes a natural colorsplash, good eye.
